Cards for Troops

Another batch of Cards for Troops completed and mailed today. I prepped 16 different cards styles and yesterday my girlfriends gathered at our home to assemble. This time they not only colored some images but actually ink blended some backgrounds. We had a wonderful socially distanced mask wearing day all for a good cause. I also included cards I made for various challenges and were not mailed making our total 102 all occasion cards. I’m going to begin prepping Valentine cards for a November card party.

Will my Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas cards get completed?? Hmmm!!!!

Panda Birthday

The Party Panda set was released in early 2018 and the numbers, confetti and balloons stamp was part of March 2019 Paper Pumpkin, all from Stampin Up. I love using my older stamps and the Retro Rubber Challenge is perfect for this.

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday is Animal Antics, so the panda qualifies as an animal doing a human job, holding balloons. Always Fun Challenge is an Anything Goes and those are always enjoyable to participate in.

Seize the Birthday is celebrating their 200th birthday. I took bright colors, confetti, balloons, and the numbers all from the logo. Happy Birthday! This was a fun challenge to make a card for.

The Paper Players: PP509

Love when challenges can motivate me to create my holiday cards and try out my new stamps. In this case, I’m in Halloween mode and wanted to use my Newton’s Nook Batty Newton stamp set which seemed perfect (to me) to use in The Paper Players Clean and Simple Challenge and to include pets. My ink blended circle was supposed to me a “spooky” moon however I think it turned more into a far mysterious planet for Batty Kitty to be flying around. After erasing a inky smudge off my focal panel, I found one more and decided to cover that one up with a bat stamps. Then I adhered the same panel to the card base the wrong direction!! Thankfully it pulled off without creasing or tearing. Besides this card being entered into the challenge it’s also in memory of my PennyLane. Boy we still do miss him and our morning wake up call with his paws in my face.

Card Swap

I am involved in a card swap where we CASE a card and will send it to each other.

I was sent the photo of the card, I found it on Pinterest, then the person’s blog. She used the OWH sketch, which I found quite helpful in creating my card.

My CASE of the above card

I used a set from Maymay Made It called Sunflower Wishes for the greeting, and SU Bloom by Bloom for the focal image. The main piece of paper was from Michael’s in my stash. I began with the scrapbook paper, then matched pink tones to it. The embossed pink cardstock is Hobby Lobby, which I embossed with a SU Ornate Floral EF. The pink cardstock in behind the focal image is Pink Pirouette SU retired. I found pink ribbon from Hobby Lobby in my stash from several years ago, and it was still in the original packaging and never opened.

It has been several years since I have participated in this kind of swap. I enjoyed making the cards and they will be addressed and sent out soon. Thanks!

Double D Challenges Don’t Fence Me In

Next week Fall begins and the weather today in Pennsylvania again today was glorious. It was a little chilly for our grandson’s 9 am baseball game. I love beginning my Halloween cards with my favorite monster Frankenstein!! My stamps are all from Prickley Pear and the cloudy skies background are using a Simon Says Stamp stencil and some Distress Ink. I will find my favorite Bonnie cloud stencil but was anxious to begin my card. LOL…yes my desk is a mess again 🙂

This card will be entered into the Double D Challenges: Don’t Fence Me In in which we were required to include a fence. One Prickley Pear fence stamped behind Frankie. The cardstock is GKD’s Wild Lilac but the auto adjust deepened the color.

Birthday Drive

DRU Challenge #153

Hello! Stamp Buddy Johanna shared a video of a Radio Flyer car recently and it made me think of my latest find from Spellbinders Sunday Drive die set. There are add ons to this original set which I have yet to find but it was fun to build my own car. This card will be entered into the Dies R Us Challenge #153 – One For the Boys. With a little bit of background ink sponging, patterned paper and a little splatter of Nuvo Shimmer Powder, the hardest part was assembling the car. The trunk “birthday” section lifts up and that’s where I placed a package. Happy with the turnout of this card.

I love the colors for The Paper Players Challenge, so I sat down to create a card. Then I saw the Wednesday challenge with Simon Says Stamp creating a card with no stamps, so I knew I was on the right track for both challenges.

I used Lawn Fawn Stitches Leaves, die cut from Pretty Peacock, Blackberry Bliss, and Cajun Craze. My glitter is strips cut from Bronze glitter paper, The Paper Studio. The patterned paper is SU Designer Paper from the In Color Suite with Pretty Peacock and the Regal Suite with Blackberry Bliss and Cajun Craze. I saw this layout idea on a video with Sharon Armstrong, SU Demonstrator. I enjoyed making my layout then adding the leaves on a glittery square.

I have been taking a break from stamping this week and did other things. Today is the Featured Stamper at Split Coast Stampers and I found a card to CASE.

Cornflower Hello

I used and old stamp set from Gina K Designs called Heartfelt. Mine is red rubber and I remember purchasing it around 2013 or so. The Spellbinders Nestabilities were being sold out at a discounted price, so I added quite a few to my cart and placed my order. Then I got a note that one was not available and I could get a refund or select any stamp set that I would like, so I chose Heartfelt. We had a neighbor who used to have a large amount of coneflowers growing in his yard, and I would walk by and look at those flowers on a regular basis.

MaryJo used punches or dies for her flowers and I chose to stamp and color. I popped the colored flowers up with foam adhesive. I really like the card I created. I can’t remember cutting and popping flowers up like this, and it was fun to try something new.

I’ve been playing with One Sheet Wonder patterns lately for inspiration. I need to replenish my Thinking of You and Birthday stash, and this is a quick and easy way to do it. I got 11 cards, plus a bonus card using scraps. The pattern paper is from Graphic 45’s Secret Garden collection. The mats are Edible Eggplant and Lovely Lavendar from Gina K designs. The sentiment is by Hero Arts. I used black sequins to dot the i’s for a little bling. I’m entering this in The Sisterhood of Crafters
