Halloween Box Card

My daughter, H, designed, stamped, die cut and anything else in the making of this card. I am sharing it for the joy it brought to my eyes to see her work. Enjoy!

The story behind this: My DH always has creative ideas. He saw a box card I made a few years ago, sitting in our dining room, and said I should make a card with a witch that would pop-up if you pulled a string. I do not have the patience for this, but my daughter gave it a try. She has the witch and ghost on a string, in photo two,they are hiding. The recipient pulls the hearts and those to elements pop up. This is a fun card. Hopefully she will make more.

Merry Christmas

The stamps are from The Stamps of Life: Christmasgreetings2stamp and pinecones2stamp. The green inks are Lawn Fawn and the red berries are stamped in Gina K Designs Cherry Red ink. The white and red paper are both Stampin’Up, and the green is The Stamps of Life. The Merry Christmas greeting is embossed with Cherry Cobbler embossing powder from Stampin’Up. This was the first time trying this powder. It seems to emboss fairly quickly.

The next card is one that I began for the speed challenge in blues. If the ornaments were stamped, punched, and laying there, I think they would have worked for the challenge. I decided to take my time and finish a card using the ornaments.

The blue inks used are Lawn Fawn. I added sparkle to the ornaments with a Sukura gel pen. The ornament hangers are gold thread. I scored the greeting to set it apart from the ornaments.

I went ahead and finished the inside of the card. I like the sentiments in the set I used.

Love What you Do

I worked on the As You See It speed challenge. It took a total of 7 minutes and 25 seconds. The cardbase was laying there scored, so I used it.

The stamp set used is SU Love What You Do. I used Lawn Fawn Blue Jay ink for the flower and greeting, Forget-me-Not for the background wash. Since this set had a stamp that was basically a wash of color, it made this challenge a lot easier. I tried using an ornament set with a punch. Stamping the ornament and punching it out took eight minutes, then there was a greeting, so I was out of time on that one. I will most likely finish it at a slower pace.

A Very Merry Christmas

I used the Noel set from Gina K Designs (retired) for the greeting. I love the stitched die look, so I used my GKD/Thermoweb Stitched Oval dies. The snowflakes were cut with a MFT Snowflake die; this is the middle size from that set of three dies. I added the gems to the center for a bit more bling. I like the Clean and Simple look.

This card will be posted in two challenges, Gina K Designs using repeated greetings, and the MISTI Monday Challenge at Split Coast Stampers. The MISTI challenge is to use scraps to create the card. I have a file of scrap paper and I have several large strips, so I chose a few colors, trimmed them to the same length, placed then in my MISTI and stamped the same greeting on each strip.

I used the set Massive Messages, stamped in Versafine Onyx Black ink, embossed with clear embossing powder. Every piece of this card was made from paper in my scrap file. I have no idea what brand each piece is. I even had a cardbase all cut and place in the scrap file. I place paper there when I have no idea which pack it came from. I saw this idea on You Tube with a Stampin Up demonstrator.

Creating with the Mod Squad Challenge in mind. This week’s challenge is to use only 3 colors: Black, Brown, and Cream, and there must be a tag on the card.

The circle element is the tag. It needed to be attached in some way, so I used foam squares and attached it at the top. I usually use bright colors in creating a card, so this was definitely a challenge.

I used Michele Boyer’s card style for inspiration. She loves white space. I basically copied a card, but changed the greeting. Stamp sets used are Christmas Sampler and A Blessed Christmas. I used Chubby Chums from Paper Smooches, which was released in 2013. I used the Sizzix Circle #2 Flip-it Die set, which I have had for at least three years. The patterned paper used is a pack from Hobby Lobby, sitting in my stash for at least 10 years. I pull it out when I need a baby card. I followed the first column on the tic-tac-toe grid: pastel colors, baby, die cut or punch.
