Seven Sparkles

Celebrating Brooke’s 7th birthday with rainbows, unicorns, stars, clouds and lots of sparkle.  Today’s card uses a variety of stamps and dies. My unicorn is a SimonSaysStamps “Magical Birthday set, the stars and clouds were from a Hero Arts monthly kit, the Happy die cut came from a Hero Arts stamp and cut set.  I also used Spellbinder’s classic hearts dies and Lawn Fawn’s rainbow die.  Sparkle came from glitter pens, wink of stella, glitter paper, Sakura clear star gelly roll pen and some unknown glittery spray that may have been included in a past kit.  All I need to do is complete the inside which will be like creating another card for the birthday girl.  SAM_3949

It’s a Jungle

So I did break down and ordered the Hero Arts My Monthly Hero card kit for June which was a jungle theme.  It was a nice kit and something different than what’s already in my stamp collection.  I’ve really been trying to be more selective in my purchases.

First one uses the monkey image which I used three times and found three different “hello” sentiments to use….things are better in threes or maybe see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil???  It’s a little busy and not really sure if I like it or not.

3 Little Monkeys

The next one uses the elephant image which is an awesome stamp and used the stencil from the kit to lightly sponge the background.

and finally the flamingo which I never tire of using.

June 2019 Hero Arts

Sorry for the long post but thanks for looking.  I really need to try to post as I finish a card.  We are heading for a possible heat wave but it is officially summer so I’ll deal with it.

Miss Soccer

A card for our Brooke to celebrate the end of her soccer season uses, GKD’s Emmy & Riley stamp set by Beth Silaika.  Cute flamingo images with a different card fold.  I always feel that I need to include opening instructions on cards like this but I think our granddaughter figured it out.  The only problem was that it didn’t stand up.

Baseball Season

It’s a little difficult to find stamps for sports but I stumbled across this Champion Player stamp set by Carta Bella Paper Co. at SimonSaysStamp. I gold embossed the images to create my background and added some die cuts for the center.  Our grandson, Chase, had a fun season and I’m sure his parents were ready for a break by the end of his season.

Summertime 2019

Just a few summertime cards using a fun little stamp set “Floaties” by Stampendous made for a dear friend’s grandchildren.  There is also a giraffe floatie and some cute sentiments in this set.  The clouds, sun, rainbow and Fun In the Sun are not included in this set.

Vintage Floral Challenge

I created today’s card for the Monthly Mix Challenge at StampTV to create a Vintage Floral creation.  I used the Through Thick & Thin flower stamps from GKD to stamps the background and heat emboss in clear embossing powder.  The main image is also from GKD and is the Inspiring Poppies stamp set which was also clear embossed and then colored in using Chameleon Color tone pencils in white and then adding a little pink and green.  The sentiment is from the GKD Hello Sunshine stamptv kit.  Added a little bit of lace and hope this is considered vintage.

This card will be entered into:  https://www.ginakdesigns.com/2019/06/01/june-2019-monthly-mix-challenge/  hosted by Arjita.

You

The card I created today is an eclipse technique card where a portion of the card is popped up from the image…..that’s my take on it anyway :).  The supplies I used on this card are as follows:

Concord & 9th’s Wreath Turnabout Stamp. Cas-Ual Fridays Stamps for Catherine Pooler’s Stamp of Approval and Sugar Pea Designs die also for Stamp of Approval.  My turnabout wreath was stamped in GKD’s Cherry Red and Coral Reef and Memento’s Dandelion and Pear Tart.  I added some Glossy Accents to the three hearts and the eclipse was die cut 4 times from cardstock and then once from fun foam.

This card will be entered into the ModSquad Challenge “Total Eclipse of the Card”.

Father’s Day 2019

I was inspired by Stamp Buddies Lisa and her beautiful hot air balloon cards so I pulled out an older Serendipity Stamps Hot Air Balloons reverse die.  I created a background with distress inks then on a plain white piece of cardstock I embossed the die using my Big Shot.  I then ran the sponged background through my Big Shot cutting out the die.  Very carefully I placed all of die cut pieces on the embossed white card and glued them in place and addded some red glitter paper behind the die cut version.  Serendipity Stamps in now owned by Impression Obsession according to the website.

So two cards — one for our son and the other for our son-in-law.

Retirement Thanks

I seem to have a little extra time on my hands since my retirement the beginning of May and what better way to fill in that time but to create some cards.  I did receive some thoughtful gifts from work and friends so here are the cards that I came up with as Thanks.

The first group of cards I created uses the Dahlia Stem die from Simon Says Stamp.  I created different backgrounds with either my blending brush or direct to paper.

My next set of thank you card used the Pretty Pink Posh  “Beautiful Butterflies” stamp and coordinating die set.  I stamped the butterflies with versamark, embossed on vellum and popped up over the colored butterflies.

And my last group of thank you cards I went back to Pretty Pink Posh and the Spring Frame Die, vellum strip and embossing powder to complete this simple but elegant card.

Card stock was all Gina K Designs and inks were a combination of Distress Oxide Inks and GKD.  Thanks for looking.
