Silhouette Challenge

Silhouette – Double D Challenge

This card will be entered into the Double D Challenge to feature a Silhouette. I masked off an area on my white cardstock with purple tape ( which pulled up some of my cardstock) and using Tim Holtz Distress Inks in Salty Ocean, Wilted Violet and Twisted Citron ink sponged a background for my GKD Hello Sunshine stamp. The sentiment from the same stamp set was inked in Versafine Onyx Black. I added some self adhesive gems, The layering cardstock was created by using the salty ocean ink and mounting all on GKD’s black cardstock. My mix of the twisted citron and wilted violet looks a little muddy so hopefully I’ll remember not to sponge those two next to each other. Also learned or should have remembered is that the distress ink takes longer to dry so my image smeared a little which I covered up with the ribbon. Lessons Learned!!

3 Colors and a Tag

Black, White, Cream plus Tag Challenge

A second entry for the ModSquadChallenge to use 3 Colors (Black, Brown, Cream) plus a tag on your project. Cardstock: GKD’s Black Onxy, Chocolate Brown, Pure Ivory, Ink: GKD’s Chocolate Brown, Stamp Set: GKD Thankful for You, Tag: GKD Decorative Tag Die Set, Cuttlebug with Love embossing border and Sizzix embossing folder, Momenta die as well as some GKD black ribbon.

The black on my card is the layering piece behind the embossed border flowers, the brown is my tag and the momenta die cut “flowers” are in all three colors. Ivory (cream) card base.

Thanks for looking. — I remembered the tag on this one 🙂

Black, White & Cream Challenge

ModSquadChallenge – 3 Colors +Tag

My card for the Mod Squad Challenge of 3 colors + Tag uses: GKD’s Black Onyx, Dark Chocolate and Ivory cardstock. My inks are GKD’s dark chocolate, Versafine Black Onyx, Distress Frayed Burlap ink. Stamps are: GKD’s Diagonal Stripe background stamp, Thankful Leaves and Autumn Wreath Builder. My diagonal background was stamped in the dark chocolate, turned and then stamped in the versafine black onyx and heat set with clear embossing powder. It may be difficult to differentiate between the black and browns but easier IRL. After stamping two leaves in the dark chocolate, I switched to the distress ink for a lighter shade of brown. I, of course, almost forgot the tag so I cut the GKD tag die in ivory and one in dark chocolate. The acorn “hat” was paper pieced from my plaid.

October Birthdays

Speech Bubble Stencil

Our grandson will be celebrating 9 years old before the end of the month. His card today was focused on the Brutus Monroe stencil gifted to me. I decided to ink in a rainbow of colors, tried to find tiny words to fit into the bubbles, and the stamp sets used were Gina K’s Birthday Bash, Party On and Friends Til the End. The little emoji embellishments were something from SimonSaysStamp. The Mascot for Chase’s elementary school is an owl so hoping he will like this card.

Next up is a girlfriend’s birthday card:

Outside using a Momenta sentiment stamp.
Inside using a Stampendous Stamp

The outside looks all sweet and pretty with a GKD stencil and flowers from SugarPea Stamp of Approval flowers then the inside shows our inner self letting lose and dancing as if no one is watching. Since this girlfriend is a frog collector, I think she will enjoy her card.

Thanks for looking on a rainy day in Pennsylvania.

Silhouette Moon

My card today is for the Mod Squad Challenge to include a moon on your project. My moon is from the My Hero Arts August 2017 kit and the sentiment is from GKD’s Oh Boy! illustrated by Tami Mayberry. Some Pixie Powder was used to create my night sky and the moon image, clouds and stars were all stamped with versamark ink and heat embossed.

Hocus Pocus

Halloween cards finished except for the inside greeting and addressing the envelopes. It’s been fun creating these without time restraints. Retirement is a wonderful thing!

Enjoy — BOO!!

October ABC’s

My ABC’s in life are our three grandchildren Alexandra, Brooke and Chase. Today’s cards are for these three “just because”. Alexandra’s card is the Farm Fun using SU’s Very Punny stamp set, Brooke’s card is the Llama card from Sizzix which included a stamp set and dies and Chase is receiving the Tim Holtz SSS Stamptember halloween set. He’s 9 years old this month and will appreciate the character and inside message of “candy made me do it”. Brooke and I sing ‘fa la la la la la la llama’ whenever we see a llama and Alexandra is our 22 month old that is still not sure what she thinks of her Gigi since we only see her monthly. We did have fun at the Apple Orchard and she loved the farm animals.

Thanks for looking and have a wonderful weekend!!

October Tree Challenge

This card was made for the As You See It Challenge Challenge #211 -A theme as lovely as a tree. Since it’s a tree challenge, I pulled out my favorite tree stamp set and one of my first Stampin Up sets “Lovely As A Tree”. Using the Joseph’s Coat stamping technique, I inked the image layer with GKD Crushed Coral, Distress Oxides twisted citron and Distress ink scattered straw. After stamping the image with versamark, I added Distress Vintage photo and topped with walnut stain to make the background darker. Added some die cut leaves from Momenta, a sentiment from GKD’s Autumn Splendor stamp set, layering on ivory cardstock and cranberry tart. To give a little more dimension, used the Cuttlebug Forest Branches embossing folder.

Challenge #211

Repeating Sentiment – October 2019

This card will be entered into the Gina K Designs Monthly Mix Challenge for October to have repeating sentiments.  Try as I may, with the use of a misti and without the use of a misti, my sentiments just would not line up in straight lines.  So instead of giving up and moving on, I remembered an older GKD stamp set by Debbie Let’s Talk.  I used all of the speech bubbles and stamped the sentiment “thinking of you” from the same stamp set.  I then proceeded to fill in the background with stamps from the Autumn Wreath Builder stamp set.  Still not satisfied, I wanted to add a fall animal but found this tree from Friends Til The End stamp set.  Added a bow, some glitter for sparkle, all GKD cardstock and inks.

The main image is stamped on kraft which is out of my comfort zone.   Do you think less is more and I should have stopped a few steps ago??
