Hendrix, Again!

The Sisterhood of Crafters: Favorite Pet

Sometimes I just crack myself up! No, seriously, I’m not losing it!! So many years ago when I first started stamping and adding to my stash, the stamp show came to my area and I spend two days looking for some fun stamps. I found this one and unfortunately I forgot who made it but possible Rubbernecker stamps…..maybe and just had to have it. When we would dog sit for our son’s dogs, Hendrix would stop at every pole and tree and of course had to mark his territory. Not sure why because he was only visiting. This card is a favorite memory of that pet. The front panel was die cut using Spellbinder’s classic circle dies which is layered over the card base. My brick wall stenciled on the card base is Picket Fence’s English Brick Wall stencil, grass is from The Cat’s Pajama’s Grass Cut Ups Die, added a flag strip and sentiment from my stash.

I’m not sure who, if anyone, will receive this card but it was fun to make and tickled my funny bone. OK, I’ll let you in on a little secret. When we knew our first grandchild was going to be a boy I made a card with this same image and sent it to our friends. LOL…told you I just crack myself up sometimes!

This card will be entered into The Sisterhood of Crafters – Favorite Pet challenge.

One Ninth Kitty

AAA Cards Game #209

So you know how you seem to be drawn back into challenges because they always seem to be an extra challenge? Well that’s me and any CAS challenge! The new challenge with AAA Cards is CAS one rectangle of nine + your favorite animal. Hmph!! So I folded a template into 9 equal sections and using Spellbinder’s classic rectangle die cut out the middle rectangle. Using that as my mask, I sponged blues, purples with the colors left on my blending brushes for ink blending that section. All our pets have crossed over the rainbow bridge and it would be very difficult to choose my favorite so instead I went with the pet stamp that would fit in my rectangle. An old Canadian Maple Collections cat stamp was found in my stash which probably came from the dollar section of AC Moore years ago, stamped and colored it in. The added sentiment to me is a perfect cat greeting and is from C.C. Designs Grouchy Pets stamp set.

Fun to make and always a challenge for me to not add more. Just between friends, I believe my favorite pet was our mini-doxie Otis. No more pets according to my hubby!

Tree Transport

Peace on Earth Christmas

There is a new Christmas challenge with the Peace on Earth #10 challenge blog using inspiration from their mood board, I searched for something country themed. I decided on using the Stampendous stamp & die set for my main focus. I stamped a scene background using an older Inkadinkadoo Fine Line Classics red rubber wood mounted stamp and then die cut some layered snow hills with SimonSaysStamp’s layered hills dies. I kind of like how it turned out and always fun to play with the Peace on Earth challenge.

Green Luck

Make the Cards Challenge #49

Green!! A favorite color of mine and the color challenge with the Make The Cards Challenge blog. I stenciled Gina K Designs Layered Hearts stencil in two shades of green and stamped the shamrock and sentiment in black which were part of the GKD Luck & Lovely card kit, layering it on a white Waffle Flowers A2 Lacy Layers die and mounted on green card base. This may be my St. Patrick’s Day go to card this year.

Double Flap Fun Fold

February 2022 Monthly Mix Challenge

My card is like a little taste of spring to match our weather the last two days but alas winter returns Thursday night into Friday with a nasty mess of ice! Karen is hosting the February 2022 Monthly Mix Challenge at Gina K Designs and our challenge is to make a Fun Fold card AND create your own stamped patterned paper. I took advantage of Gina’s Deal of the Day Sketched Flowers stamp & die bundle to create my patterned paper and my main image. The sketchy flowers were stamped in GKD’s Ocean Mist, Lovely Lavender and the leaves in Fresh Asparagus. Also included is the word die form Master Layouts 9.

The front smaller card lifts up and the patterned section folds down to create my fun fold. I found this idea on Pinterest. Here’s the inside vies of my fun fold card.

A fun challenge! Thanks for stopping in for a peek. I appreciate your time. Take care and be safe.

Pink Kaleidoscope

Can You Handle Ther Pressure

A new to me challenge blog that I came across from Buddy Bonnie’s entries so I decided to give it a whirl. What a great idea to be inspired and challenged to use all of those embossing folders that are in my stash. This challenge is an Anything Goes Embossing with a Twist of Pink. I wanted to make my embossed panel the star of the card so I used a SimonSaysStamp 3D Kaleidoscope embossing folder that is very detailed. I die cut a piece of heavy weight pink cardstock then lightly sprayed it with water and ran it through my Big Shot. The detail is pretty awesome. I did CASE a card I saw on the Facebook group Share Handmade Kindness but unfortunately I didn’t notate the maker to give credit. From there I constructed and deconstructed what to do next multiple times adding a black layer then removing it, trying to get a clean heat embossed sentiment and on and on. So I settled with a simple Script Hello die from SSS, stamped “there” from Hero Arts Stamp & Cut Floral set and a Tim Holtz Sizzix Garden Greens leaf that was previously cut out but not used. Without that black layer, the card seemed to have been missing something so I lightly stenciled pink on a Fun Stampers Journey Splash Zone stencil. Hard to see but it adds a little background detail….well, at least to me.

Thanks Darlene and Diane for another fun challenge blog.

Pink Bubbles

Double D Challenges: Shades of Pink

A little bit of whimsy with my card today as I share it in the Double D Challenges Shades of Pink challenge. Such a fun mood board had me thinking in many different directions however I received inspiration from the upper left photo with all of the beads in shades of pink. To my eye I immediately thought of bubbles. It doesn’t matter how old the grand kids are they still like to play with bubbles….me too!

I started with SimonSaysStamp’s In The Round stencil inking it in Gina K Designs Bubblegum Pink and Dusty Rose as well as SSS Cotton Candy and Hero Arts Bubble Gum ink. Then I moved onto SSS’s Friendship Text Background stamp and using versamark ink and clear embossing powder, stamped and heat set this background on my bubbles and then lightly ink blending the same colors over the entire background. Stamped and fussy cut the images from The Cats Pajamas Bubbles Happen stamp set. The panels were die cut using Art Impressions A2 Double Stitched Rectangle dies and mounted on a white card base.

I wouldn’t mind having that delicious pink cupcake to eat. LOL

Pink and Black

Paper Dragonfly Creative Challenges #2

I’m playing in a new to me challenge today with Paper Dragonfly Creative Challenges. The challenge is Anything Flies using only Pink and Black. Anything Flies is their definition of Anything Goes and you can add the optional dragonfly to the the challenge too. I normally make cards for one of by BFF’s that include a dragonfly so this will be a new card for her.

Using Inky Antics’ cloud stencil, I created by background with DO Kitsch Flamingo ink, then added some DO Black Soot but it looked more gray than black so I added a black frame to my panel. Stamped one GKD’s Dreams Take Flight dragonfly stamp in black and clear heat embossed then stamped a second in DO Picked Raspberry while adding some stars from My Monthly Hero Arts Kit from August 2017. Sentiment was from GKD’s Stippled Flowers stamp set. A little clear sparkle to star clusters finishes off my card.

If you love dragonflies, this may be a fun challenge for you, too.

Winter Heart Wreath

Four Seasons Winter February Challenge

The final winter challenge at Four Seasons challenge has quite a snowy and red hearts mood board to use for inspiration in their February challenge. Since it snowed yesterday and today is Valentine’s Day, I took my inspiration from the top right panel, creating a dry embossed panel and doing direct to paper ink with GKD’s Moonlit Fog ink and die cutting multiple times ScrapMan’s Frame Love die. The final die cut was made in white glitter paper and inset with red glitter paper hearts. Sentiment is GKD’s You Are Enough mini which was free with purchase.

Fun mood board and challenge. Thanks for stopping in for a peek. Happy Valentine’s Day friends! Take care and be safe.
