Leafy Sketch

Sunday Stamps SSC290

I haven’t played along with the challenges at Sunday Stamps in awhile but I liked the sketch challenge and am getting this card in just under the deadline.

Although the temperatures outside are still staying hot, I am definitely getting into Fall mode and starting my October birthday cards. My background was created using Taylored Expressions Four Seasons stamp and stencil set however I decided to just gold heat emboss the stamped image onto some kraft cardstock and not use the stencils for added color. In keeping with the sketch and not wanted to cover the background, I used a piece of vellum, some ribbon , circle dies with a TE On Occasion stamp and die sentiment which was topped with leaves from Gina K Designs Thankful Leaves stamp, foil and die set.

This was a great sketch to use and will probably duplicate it again.

Thanks for stopping in for a peek. I appreciate you and your time. Take care, be safe and make it a great day!

Boo, Framed

The Sisterhood of Crafters

Frame It! is this challenge to use a frame on your card project with The Sisterhood of Crafters. So for today’s card I was having fun creating backgrounds using Taylored Expressions G-G-G-Ghost background stamp and stencil set. My frames that I used to create my “mirror” are Taylored Expressions A2 Thin Frame Cutting plate die. After adding some vellum to the back of the frames to create my ghostly mirror I die cut TE’s Ghost Gang set and stamped a sentiment. Scalloped layered is Waffle Flower A2 Lacy Layers die.

Fun challenge. Thanks for stopping in for a peek. I appreciate you and your time. Take care, be safe and stay cool. It was another HOT day in Pennsylvania.

Twinkle Sprinkle

As You See It Challenge #282

Baby Business is the challenge with the AYSI Challenge #282 to create a baby themed card. Twin boy grand-friends are on the way this is my card for the Twinkle Sprinkle. Their Nanny is a dear friend and the girlfriends are almost as excited as she is for their arrival. The twins’ nursery is a baseball theme so I decided to use Carta Bella Paper Company’s Champion Player stamp set as well as Denami Designs Onsies that were stamped then stamped again on patterned paper and fussy cut. One has a white colar and one has a blue color. The twins are identical so not sure if that will be enough to tell them apart. The gingham background was stamped in grey and is a SimonSaysStamp background stamp. I pulled out my well loved Gina K Designs Oh Baby stamp set for the sentiments. Not sure what happened to the “oh, baby” stamp so I had to handwrite the “oh” and of course there was a smudge on the top sentiment which the red hearts covered up nicely. LOL! Waffle Flowers A2 Lacy layers and GKD and Spellbinders circle dies completed my card.

Happy that I had a reason to play along with this challenge. Thanks for stopping in for a peek. I appreciate you and your time. Take care, be safe and still saying to STAY COOL!

All About Happy

Can You Handle The Pressure

Anything goes with an embossing folder and a twist of using the sentiment as the focus of the card. Fo my card, I decided on Darice cupcake embossing folder. After embossing and dotting each embosed dot in ROY G BIV order or as close as I could get to rainbow with markers, I added color to the cupcake. For some reason the original cupcake with pink icing just didn’t seem appetizing to me so I embossed the cupcake portion onto white shimmer paper, fussy cut, popped it up and added some sequins for sprinkles or as some would call jimmies. I little splatter of ink and then die cut the SimonSaysStamp Large Happy Birthday die in two different colors slightly offsettng so both colors show.

Fun challenge. Thanks for stopping in for a peek. I appreciate you and your time. Take care, be safe and stay cool.

Snowy Kiss

Peace On Earth Christmas Challenge

I enjoy making cute cards and this month’s inspiration mood board with the Peace on Earth Christmas Challenge #22 Anything Christmas was full of cuteness. I was drawn to the snowy forest scene and finally decide that the Penny Black Snow Kiss stamp was as cute as I could find in my stash of stamps. After stamping, coloring and fussy cutting, I was ready for my background. My trees are white heat embossed from Gina K Designs Winter Cheer stamp set which was stamped three times on a night sky patterened paper, it was then dry embossed using Tim Holtz Alterations/Sizzix embossing folder. After swiping a little white pigment ink over the raised areas and flicking some white paint I was ready for some snowy hills. These came from SimonSaysStamps’ Layered Hills dies. Sentiment was stamped after everything was assembled is from GKD’s Holiday Tags stamp set and I held my breath as I stamped it. I wanted to add a small cardinal in the trees and had the perfect stamp which needed to be taped off, however, I took another deep breath but decided not to press my luck especially with the dry embossing. Whew!!

Diane and Darlene are starting a new challenge in October. Stencil Fun! So glad these gals are giving us a reason to use all of our different supplies and techniques. Always so much fun to play along with their challenges.

Middle School

Make The Cards Challenge #62

The theme for with the Make the Cards Challenge #62 group is School or Teacher. OMG our grandson is heading to 6th grade and middle school on Monday. OMG!!! How quickly time as flown by for this to happen. So proud of Chase and all his accomplishments. It is getting more difficult to make cards for pre-teens so I opted to go with his school mascot and his school initials. Stinger the Hornet was printed from the school’s website on both copy paper and vellum and glued together for more depth of color. I then die cut Stinger using Spellbinders circle nestabilities die and die cut a green circle using GKD’s circle dies. These two sets work nicely together. The speech bubble and sentiment is als Gina K Designs Let’s Talk stamp set. The school colors are green and gold and the letters were die cut from Concord & 9th’s Double Cut Alphabet dies. The background was embossed with Tim Holtz “The Journey” embossing folder which is a combination embossing folder, stamps and dies.

Very timely challenge and a fun card to make. Thanks for stopping in for a peek. I appreciate you and your time. Take care, be safe and YES, I’m still staying STAY COOL.

P.S. I think my letters even look straight!!! LOL

Fall Barrow

Double D Challenges

Wheels! Is the interesting challenge with the Double D Challenges group. Since I’m hoping that the hot weather will begin to lessen, I’ll try to help it along by creating a Fall themed card. My wheels are on my wheelbarrow and pumpkin load. I stamped, colored and fussy cut the Prickley Pear image and popped it up on my ink blended focal panel after stamping some wheat from Gina K Designs Autumn Splendor Showtime StampTV kit. Sentiment is Taylored Expressions Wheatfield Dreams.

Another great mood board for inspiration from Double D.

Really!

Can You Handle the Pressure

Embossing folder anything goes with a twist of Pets/Dogs/Cats is the challenge with Can You Handle the Pressure group. After ink blending some colors on my heavy weight cardstock, sprayed lightly with water and using the SimonSaysStamp Circle Rings embossing folder through my Big Shot. I cannot get enough of C.C. Designs Grouchy Pets stamp and die set. For this card, I decided on the regal and a littly snooty poodle who just came from the beauty salon.

It’s always a fun challenge with this group. Thanks for stopping in for a peek. I appreciate you and your time. Take care, be safe and stay cool.

Owen James

It was an exciting and very long Friday waiting for the arrival of our newest grandson. As well as being emotional about his arrival and after knowing everyone is well, this was a struggle to find just the right card design to celebrate this little one’s arrival. Patterned paper is from my stash and sentiment is GKD’s It’s The Little Things and the main image is an older Inkadkinadoo mounted red rubber stamp.

And of course Big Sister Alexandra who is all of 4 years old needed a special card too. Two giraffes, some butterflies, star layering stencil, Spellbinder’s star dies and Concord & 9th Double Cut Alphabet dies completed this card.

We are in love and are anxiously waiting for the ok to visit from Mommy & Daddy (our son).

Thanks for stopping in for a peek. I appreciate you and your time. Take care, be safe and Stay Cool.
