Owen’s First

A birthday card for our youngest grandchild. Time has flown by and this little guy will be one next week. For my card, I decided on bright colors focusing on yellows and greens, Newton Nook’s Love Quarry stamp and die set, Concord & 9th’s Alphabet dies, Stampin Up/Sizzix’s Banner Framelets (trimmed down), patterned paper from my stash and a computer generated (if off center) greeting.

My card will be shared with:

Colorful Options: August 2023 challenge with this month’s colors Yellow and Green. My card is predominately those colors but I’m sure I fit the option of using Rainbow colors which I have covered. So this card may be a two-fer!!

I’m still in recovery mode after our 5 year old granddaughter and the soon to be birthday boy 11 months old came on vacation to our house for 4 days. Fun but exhausting. Our two older grandchildren came home early from vacation and helped babysit. We all had a wonderful time with 4 grands in the house together. Can you believe our central air went out sometime Friday and Saturday morning we woke up to 80+ degrees in the house. Thankfully the HVAC company came out in the afternoon and made the repairs to the three year old unit and the 86 degrees took about 4-5 hours to drop to normal temps.

Seas the Gull

A nautical themed challenge and the required embossing folder had me searching Pinterest for some extra inspiration. My card has bits and pieces from several different nautical cards that peaked my interest. The embossed panel is a Darice woodgrain folder which I opted to used the debossed side for my card. The ocean scene was die cut from some of my favorite patterned paper and layered on a kraft die cut circle. The gull is Gina K Designs red rubber Little Things mini stamp set that was stamped in brown ink and fussy cut. I decided not to color in the gull on his perch but added a grouping of seagulls using GKD’s By the Sea and finally found a small sentiment from a Stampin Up set Blossoms in Bloom to complete my card.

I will be sharing my card today with

christmas in July Cheer

The mood board for this challenge had me flipping back and forth between a wreath and a cocktail so I decided to add both to my card. The wreath is possibly an unbranded die and the stamped images are Michael’s Recollections Christmas Noel stamp and die set. Kept this one simple so I can sent it off to Making Cards for Troops packet which I desperately need to get started on.

Garden Gnome

Weeding and trimming rose bushes today inspired me to make this card using Inkadinadoo’s Garden Gnome stamp set. Really cute gnome images in this set. Patterned paper was from my stash, Old Olive grosgrain ribbon from StampinUp and die cut panels complete my card.

Christmas Scene Frame

I’ve been inspired to CASE a CASE of a CASE Stamp Buddies card today and while I’m CASE-ing a card I may just as well make it a Christmas in July card. An old Inkadinkadoo red rubber mounted stamp was used to create my scene. The frame was die cut using Art Impressions Rectangle Double Stitched die, a Sizzix embossing folder, sentiment strip from my stash as well as a snowflake and a few other small embellishments complete my card today. But while I was playing with Christmas in July and the CASE why not make another card. So here’s card CASE #2:

This image was another red rubber mounted stamp by Penny Black. It’s a little larger than card #1 so I decided on Hero Arts Wood Frame Infinity die, Spellbinder’s poinsettia and sentiment strip again from my stash. I thought this one needed a little color. Both cards were stamped using Taylored Expressions Poppy Seed ink.

STAR-fish

Embossing folder with a twist of stars! I was positive that I had a star background embossing folder but when that didn’t materialize I switched gears and used Cuttlebug’s D-vine Swirl folder. Since it sort of reminded me of waves, I was then drawn to a “star”fish for my star element in the Can You Handle the Pressure challenge. Patterned paper from my stash is mounted behind the embossed layer. Starfish are from Hero Arts Seashells Fancy Dies and the twig is a Tim Holtz die, sentiment Gina K Designs Gifts from the Sea. I did add a few shiny gold stars around my circle cut out.

Catastrophy

A cat challenge was on my mind and decided to use the Art Impressions Catastrophy stamp set which has several cute and funny get well cat images and sentiments. Colored my sick cat and her favorite stuffed mouse with markers, found a piece of shiny patterned paper that was still on my desk from a previous wedding card, Stampin Up circle punches and AI Rectangle Double Stitched dies to complete my card.

Fur Baby

A Buddy has been making some pet sympathy cards recently so I was inspired to play along with a challenge that is all about puppies! I think my card could be used as a sympathy card or just one to a fellow dog lover. My rainbow heart was made using the heart stencils that I made using my layering hearts dies. The stamped image and greeting are from Sunny Studios Pet Sympathy stamp and die set. This is a CAS challenge but decided that a colored card base would stop me from adding anything else to my card.

Dutch Garden Birthday

Taylored Expressions layering Dutch Gardens stencil was used to make the background of my card. I decided to layering a piece of vellum over the stenciling which softened the image while adding a bolder die cut sentiment.
