Reindeer Tag Square Card

I have been using items that have been in my stash for a long time. I often forget what I own until a challenge inspires me. I was inspired by a theme to create a card for a classic Christmas movie, Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer. With that theme, out came a few reindeer dies.

I love the Retro Rubber Challenge as it helps me use my stash of older supplies. This reindeer is a Stephanie Bernard and Sizzix set from October 2017. That was the closest date I could come up with based on a Google search. The tag dies used are from Hero Arts and also a Spellbinders die. All are several years old and are retired. I have been using the scraps from Echo Park Celebrate Christmas released in 2018, per my search. If you like the paper, it is still available.

The Peace on Earth Christmas challenge is always Anything Goes, but on the mood board is a red pillow with snowflakes. My Kraft patterned paper with the red greeting and snowflakes reminds me of that pillow.

Simon Says Stamp has an Anything Goes. I will add it to that challenge as well.

Thanks for sharing in this card today.

Sunflower Fun

September is quickly approaching and I always think of sunflowers in September. The Sisterhood of Crafters challenge is all about Sunflowers.

https://thesisterhoodofcrafters.blogspot.com/2022/08/sunflowers.html

I used the August 2021 set from Hero Arts for the sunflowers. This was colored with the stencils and the ink that came in the kit. The background is a Stampin Up set. I used Gina K Designs Fresh Asparagus cardstock and matching ink on the background.

Cassettes

I remember the 80’s. I graduated HS in the 80’s, graduated from two colleges in the 80’s, and started my first job away from home in the 80’s. The Retro Rubber Challenge is all about the 80’s. I remember a lot of music from those years. Music was on the radio and at home, usually on a cassette player. I will also include Can You Handle the Pressure as I embossed the background with stars.

https://www.retrorubberchallengeblog.com/my-blog/2022/08/challenge-189-its-the-80s.html https://cyhtp.blogspot.com/2022/08/anything-goes-with-twist-of-petsdogscats.html

I went with the cassette theme using the Beboppin set from Paper Smooches, 2013. It has the 80’s vibe with the colors and the cassette tapes. The challenge says to use 3 of these colors: Mauve, Pink, Blue, Grey, or Tan. I used all of the colors. The palette in the early 80’s had more pastel shades of these color and in the late 80’s it turned to neon colors. My colors are bright but not neon.

I enjoyed my trip down memory lane. I do not remember the using the word gnarly, though. Thanks for spending time with me.

Alcohol ink on Vellum

I tried a newer technique this weekend. The featured stamper on Splitcoast Stampers is Lisa Curcio who I learn a lot from. She shares several videos a month, blog posts, and special cards for newsletter subscribers. I was thrilled to select a card to CASE.

https://lisasstampstudio.com/2021/07/4-ways-with-alcohol-markers-to-create-unique-and-easy-greeting-card-backgrounds.html

I linked the blog post that shows the video used for the card that I CASED. My card uses a die from My Favorite Things. I think it might be called Contemporary Rose. I stacked it two times. I used Spectrum Noir markers and 99% alcohol to create the background. I placed the alcohol in a small spritz bottle; I have never done that before. It really made the alcohol ink move a bit. My vellum is thin from Hobby Lobby. My paper is Spectrum Noir white cardstock. I chose a simple Hello greeting from the mini set Rose Bouquet from Gina K Designs.

I had fun creating this card. I made two pieces of alcohol inked vellum, so will use the other one hopefully soon.

Faux Burned Rose

I have been playing in techniques recently. This technique is called Faux Burned Wood and I chose to use a rose for this card.

https://ginakdesigns.com/2022/08/02/august-2022-monthly-mix-challenge/?v=7516fd43adaa https://www.retrorubberchallengeblog.com/my-blog/2022/08/challenge-188-anything-goes.html

I used the stamp set, Rose Bouquet from Gina K Designs, dated 2017. The woodgrained texture is from the SU embossing folder called Pinewood Planks, very retired. Basically to complete this technique, I used my MISTI and a dark ink stamping the image several times to make it as dark as I could. I used Dark Chocolate from GKD. Then while the ink is still wet, take a water brush or paint brush and drag it across the image. This makes the outline a bit fuzzy and moves the ink across the paper. I used Ranger Watercolor Cardstock to stamp and move the ink on.

Here is the You Tube video I watched to learn this technique: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aIeWFPqWfTU&list=WL&index=21

I have spent the last six month’s being on the design team with Split Coast Stampers. I enjoyed the honor and learned quite a bit. My last cards will be posted on August 15. Thanks for reading and seeing what I am creating. If you try this technique, I would love to see it. I enjoyed learning something new and being able to share.

Lighthouse card

Double D Challenge would like a lighthouse. Retro Rubber challenge is Anything Goes. I decided a recently made card would fit both challenges.

https://www.retrorubberchallengeblog.com/my-blog/2022/08/challenge-188-anything-goes.html

The stamp set used is Beacon by Maymay Made it, released in 2017. I stamped the lighthouse in Lawn Fawn Lobster ink. The birds are from the same set, stamped in Gina K Designs In the Navy ink. The greeting is from a Hero Arts set very retired, from 2011 or 2012, stamped in GKD Black Onyx ink. I added twine to balance the card front.

I enjoyed creating this card. Thanks for stopping by.

Paper Dragonfly Guest Designing

I am happy to guest design for Paper Dragonfly Creative Challenge. I had so much fun finding several images to combine to create my card. Thanks for the opportunity to guest design!

https://paperdragonflycreativechallenges.blogspot.com/

My card uses images from Stampin Up and Sunny Studio. I used A Touch of Ink, Flowering Fields, and In the Meadow from Stampin Up. I used Backyard Bugs from Sunny Studio to stamp and cut the bees, butterfly and ladybug. The dragonfly image came from Hero Arts. I colored everything with SU and Tombow markers.

I hope you have time to come play in the challenge. I had so much fun creating this card. Thanks for sharing in the honor with me.

faBooLous Ghosts

I created a Halloween card today. It was so fun to take out images that I created last year and had left over.

https://twooldbatshalloweenchallenge.blogspot.com/2022/07/july-mid-month-reminder.html

I love the mood board at the Two Old Bats Challenge and the ghosts captured my attention. These ghosts were punched from the SU Tulip Builder Punch. The eyes were punched from the Owl Builder Punch. They needed a background, so my daughter, who has a large collection of Halloween stamps and accessories, came to the rescue with a Cuttlebug Web embossing folder. I inked it with Gina K Designs White Pigment ink. The greeting is from a Paper Smooches set called Ghoul Friends.

This was a fun card to create. Thanks for stopping by.
