Quilted Square

A speed challenge with a crafting theme accepted. Thanks to Johanna for reminding me of the always fun challenge at the As You See It Challenge blog. My card today was one recreated from a card class. The original class stenciled on felt and included twine. Since I didn’t have another piece of felt and could not find my twine and the clock was ticking, I opted for card and began the time. Taylored Expressions quilt square stencil in four different inks was used for my focal image. Then using TE’s All Planned Out 4 die set for my scalloped backer, followed by TE’s Cross Stitch embossing folder in jujube cardstock and inked with the same color to help the embossing stand out a bit. I couldn’t decide on a sentiment from the many pre stamped and cut sentiments in my stash and of course the time was starting to run out so I figured Life is a mess would fit since I found a few smudges on my card. My card was completed in 8 minutes and 45 seconds and will be shared with:

  1. I’m impressed you could get that beautiful quilt block done in less than 10 minutes. Great card and great sentiment

  2. Beautiful quilt square and I like the cross stitch embossing folder. I’m very impressed you got it done in less than 10 minutes.

  3. This is really impressive, Gayle! As a part-time quilter, I love the stencilled quilted square. Lovely composition with the inked and embossed cross-stitch patterning at the back. The sentiment is a good one and I can think of plenty of times I’d have liked to have had it to use. Thanks for taking on the speed challenge at As You See It -it’s a beauty!
