Tree under 10!

Speed Challenge — accepted with a theme of Trees! My favorite Stampin Up set is still Lovely As A Tree. After gathering my supplies and starting the timer, I realized that this particular stamp almost lost its rubber backing and needed some temporary adhesive to apply it to the Misti door. To save space, I removed all of my SU stamps from their rubber blocks a few years ago. Next step was to apply versamark ink as I wanted to white heat emboss the tree. My Gina K Designs pad detached from the base so using my fingers I finished stamping with my juicy pad. My inky fingers were able to barely open the lid of the embossing powder and heat set the image. Off to my Big Shot to emboss the white panel with a Darice swirling snowflake folder. Thankfully it was the regular 2D embossing folder so I didn’t have to mess around trying to find the right sandwich. Layered the focal panel on an already die cut panel from my stash, added another layer of green and adhered to the embossed panel and that to the card base. Sentiment!!! Almost forgot about the SU To You and Yours stamp inked in Taylored Expressions Wintergreen ink to match the cardstock and fussy cut. Time: 9 minutes 38 seconds.

I did have to laugh when reading about Buddy Johanna’s speed challenge dilemma after my issues with the embossing pad but these are always fun.

The speed challenge I’m sharing my card with is:

As You See it Challenge: Challenge #337 – Turbo Trees

Thanks for stopping in for a peek. I appreciate you and your time. Take care; stay safe.

  1. Very pretty! I have that set also, as it was Mom’s favorite. I gave mine away as I wasn’t using it and someone she knew loved it. Maybe I will have time to join in the challenge. It looks like a good one.

  2. Oh gosh, and you’re right, this set is SO timeless! So funny that you had issues with your pads – way to soldier on, lol – I don’t think I’d have let the timer keep going myself, lol. You should def get a special mention for that!! Thanks so much for playing at As You See It!

  3. So beautiful Gayle – your embossed tree has so much impact against the green background. great job to bring it in within the 10 minutes! Thanks for getting speedy with us at As You See It challenge

  4. Speed stamping is always a bit of an adventure! Love that striking white tree against the green – a classic look. You’re braver than me – I don’t think I’d tackle heat embossing in a speed challenge! Thanks for taking up the gauntlet at As You See It. 🙂

  5. Mishaps and all you got this card done super quick and it looks great! You didn’t even get any black on your embossed white panel. That is not something I could have accomplished. Great work!

  6. Love this Gayle – the embossed tree was worth the effort, it’s stunning against the green base. And so nice to see Lovely as a Tree too – a Stampin’ Up! classic. Thanks for playing along with us over at As You See It for our speed challenge!

  7. Isn’t it amazing what can go wrong doing a speed challenge? Things you would never anticipate! But you kept going and came up with a striking embossed tree image on that green background. I love your layers! Thanks for getting your adrenal glands working overtime with us at As You See It Challenges!
