G is for Grandma’s house

This week my destination in the alphabet challenge was the letter G. Once again, my husband helped me with a destination. My grandmother was an avid quilter and crochet many items. I learned to chain stitch with her help then over the years, learned to crochet quite well.

The stamp set used is Altenew Granny Squares. I used Gina K Designs Innocent Pink, Dusty Rose, Tomato Soup, and Fired Brick inks for each row. I used the matching die to cut each square out, then assembled them into a blanket. It was very much like piecing a quilt in the assembly. I chose to leave the greeting off of the card so I can use it when needed.

I have been told to enter this in the Cardz 4 Galz challenge as it matches the colors. I am thrilled to enter in this challenge.

Thank you for stopping by today. It has been quite dreary with our rain, but the sun is supposed to be coming out tomorrow and the next day. I am looking forward to seeing sunshine!

  1. This is great Lisa. You could also enter into the cardz4galz as you’ve used the colours for that challenge very well here. I like it and it really does look like a quilt.

  2. Your crocheted, quilted background looks great, and good idea to leave off a greeting until the card is needed. Love that it brings back memories of an activity you did with your grandmother.

    1. Thank you! Yes, I thought it would be better to leave the greeting off. That is always difficult as I always want to add one.

  3. Love it! Its’s such a warm and cozy card. My grandma was a crocheter and quilter too. She taught me to make granny squares, but I’m not sure I could make one now. I have some of her afgans that bring warm memories of times with her.

    1. Thank you! I have made 2 afghans with the granny square pattern. I enjoy making the squares as they are small so they are quick.

  4. What a fun “destination”, Lisa. So cool to make a card reminiscent of your grandmother. I also like that it’s ready to be finished for whatever you need it for.
