Double D Challenges: Happy Birthday Challenge

Congratulations Diane and Darlene on the 7th birthday of Double D Challenges. I so enjoy playing along with your challenges. The themes, mood boards and design team cards are always inspiring.

Today’s card is for a little one turning 3 this month. Although he’s already a car guy especially jeeps, I opted to take him to outer space. My background was created using Tim Holtz Distress Oxide inks and the moon mask stencil. The images and sentiment is an old stamp set by Love Nicole which must have been made for AC Moore. A really cute stamp and die set that stamps nice clean images. I framed my sentiment (which I should have heat embossed with embossing powder) to help it stand out from the background.

This is the inside of the little guy’s card. The birthday cake is from Stampendous named Candles. I lost the 3 so added a little green man to continue with the outer space theme. I should have looked a little longer because that 3 was in my misplaced stamps bin on my desk. 🙂 I think I will put a little note in the card that the rocket ship is “Hemi Powered”. If anyone knows of any good jeep stamps or car stamps, I’d appreciate the share.

Love this mood board and was inspired to use the colors from it for my card.

Thanks for stopping in for a peek. I appreciate you and your time. Take care and stay safe.

  1. What a delight, especially the inside. Even a car guy can love something from out of this world. I always Gerry’s trick of searching the internet search of coloring books to get those hard to find images. But will keep an eye out for stamps.

    1. Thanks, Bonnie, and yes I should remember Gerry’s trick of searching the internet. I’m hoping he will like the space card too.

  2. This is great Gayle. Any child would love it and even a child into jeeps will be fascinated by it. Great save for the missing 3, but chuckled that you found it eventually.

    1. Thanks, Johanna, I must have last used that stamp set when my granddaughter turned 3. Glad I do keep those litle lost stamps in the same place.

  3. Gayle, this card is adorable! Love the theme and the fun alien in place of the 3. It would drive me absolutely nuts to not know where a stamp went. Think going through each and every set used until it was found and put where it belongs, no matter how long it took.
I actually found some patterned paper that has jeeps and trucks on it and I have cut pieces out and used that a few times over the years. I do like to use a couple of embossing folders that have tire tracks and the metal look to them for my guys that love jeeps and trucks.

  4. Cute card and one that will be in the memory box to look back on when he is older. So glad that you joined us at Double D Birthday Challenge.

  5. How adorable, I’m sure the recipient is going Great design here, and great take on the challenge. Thanks so much for playing along with us over at Double D, hope to see you back again soon.
    Judy~ DD DTto LOVE this!!
