Clear Fall

Double D Challenges: Things That Fall

Make the Challenge #64 – Washi Tape

My card today was inspired by a recent Kristina Werner card using clear acrylic coverstock and embossing powder. Attempt #1 -after prepping card front and stamping in versamark and gold embossing powder I discovered that it was quite a mess. Kristina said the embossing powder will stick to the acrylic front and it sure did. So I tapped, and brushed and tapped and blew off as much as possible and started to heat my acrylic piece of cardstock which apparently was not heat resistent and it warped and was not useable. Attempt #2 – stamped with different brown inks and of course they all wiped off but at least I could save the card front. Attempt #3 – Staz-On ink and that worked. It does wipe off with hand sanitizer so hopefully the recipient will not use that on the card front. As with Kristina’s card she used Washi tape to adhere here acrylic layer to her patterned background. I opted for the green dotted swiss washi tape that was on my desk to adhere these two pieces (acrylic and patterned paper) together. The patterned paper is from a beautiful patterned paper pad. The two layers are then adhered to an A2 card base.

Fun and determined card to make and complete and always fun to play in challenges to keep me motivated. Happy Fall! Thanks for stopping in for a peek. I appreciate you and your time. Take care and be safe.

    1. Thanks, Lisa, I pulled my original embossed panel out of the trash with hopes of saving it but so far I couldn’t get it to flatten. I may try running it through my laminator on low heat.

  1. I often find that my original plan is not what I end up with! Great use of the washi tape, the end result is fabulous. Thanks for joining us at Make the Cards Challenge.

  2. Your description of the trouble you had with this made me smile a little as it happens to me too. The effort and your determination paid off big time though. The end result is really eye catching.

  3. I love that you tried different things until you found what would work. I’m pretty positive no one will use hand sanitizer to clean the card.

  4. What a beautiful card. I love the beautiful background colors! Thank you so much for sharing your work us at Make the Cards Challenge and we hope that you can join us again soon.
