Dinner Party!

Two Old Bats Halloween Challenge – May

My most anticipated monthly challenge is live! It’s May Anything Halloween with the Two Old Bats Halloween Challenge blog. This month’s inspiration mood board seemed to focus on black and gold with a hint of orange. I was drawn to the dinner table place settings and decided that no respectable Halloween party can take place without a spooky chandelier!!

My card used a gold heat embossed chandelier from maybe Outlines/Hampton Arts. I did not have the original packaging any more on this older red rubber stamp. I stamped the image in verafine black onyx ink and then heat embossed using gold embossing powder. To me, I get a much better and less splotchy emboss than using veramark. And it was interesting that the black ink worked well with colored embossing powder. I popped up my panel with some fun foam and then decided to frame it with Hero Arts Wood Frame Infinity dies cut from black and gold patterened paper from my stash. The side of the frame cuts out slightly so I mounted it on an orange card base so a little orange peeks through the frame. And since crows were invited to the dinner party on the mood board I found Mr. Crow from a Recollections stamp set, gold heat emboss the guest of honor and fussy cut him out to oversee the activities.

Another fun challenge and inspiration mood board from the Two Old Bats.

Thanks for stopping in for a peek. I appreciate you and your time. Take care and be safe.

  2. Well if I were judging this challenge this would be the winner in my eyes. You really make some of the best Halloween cards Gayle. This is brilliant and I love how you described making it as that tells a good story too. Having the bit of orange peek out is great and the crow is the icing on the cake.

  5. Gayle, you come up with fabulous Halloween cards. I love that spooky chandelier. Really like that background paper, too. Thanks for sharing the tip about the Versafine ink for embossing and it turning out so well.

  6. OMG, SO ELEGANT! Just love when gold embossing goes that smoothly! I think I need a new bottle, because mine is starting to look a bit grainy and if I overheat then it bubbles.Yours is just exquisitely perfect!
