Trying to complete my August birthday cards and running a little behind schedule when I decided to play along with the GKD’s August 2012 Monthly Mix Challenge hosted by Rema to add sentiment strips to your card project and also with the Just Add Ink #567 Inspiration challenging you to use the photo below as your inspiration

I was drawn to the colors and primarily the rug with that gorgeous large orange flower and the teal accents. So I smooshed some GKD inks (Turquoise Sea and Coral Reef) after spraying with water and created my background. I wanted to add some golden accent so added some gold mixative and blending solution. This didn’t work out quite how I expected it but to me it looked better after adding the flowers and covering up some of the area. The flowers and sentiment strips as well as the stamped sentiment are all from the Gina K Designs’ A Little Hello stencil layering bundle. My flowers were stenciled using GKD’s Coral Reef, Peach Bellini and Dark Chocolate. I did add a Nuvo’s crackle mousse to the centers of two of my flowers. All were die cut using the die included in the bundle.
Thanks for stopping in and taking a peek.
The flowers are lovely with the background. Perfect for both challenges.
Gorgeous card! Love the background with those beautiful flowers.
Your black frame makes the rest blend so well. Interesting that you offset the images on the white. Your smooched bg is so perfect to compliment the flowers and match the challenge.
I wanted my flowers to go off the edge and didn’t want to trim them off so I just moved the layers to the left 🙂
Beautiful background for those gorgeous flowers. The black frame really sets it all off.
You sure met both challenges with this card. The colours are fab, the design is great and all the sentiments work perfectly. Love it all.
Gorgeous card, Gayle. Beautiful background & I love your ‘off the edge’ flowers. Thanks for sharing with us at Just Add Ink. x
Ohh now that’s an interesting background – very pretty. I also love you placement of your sentiment. Chantell Just Add Ink
Gayle, what a pretty card! You really show your inspiration from the photo. Great job on it.
