Our challenge for the Double D Challenges is to use Summer Gingham on your project. After thumbing through my supply of Gina K Designs patterned paper packs, I chose this light aqua-ish piece of gingham and cut it into strips. The strips along with a few solid pieces of cardstock were glued to a clear transparencies sheet and then die cut it with a GKD circle die. After die cutting, I popped the “floating” image with foam strips, dry embossed the card base with a Momenta embossing folder, added a Tim Holtz Sizzix layering butterfly die and stamping the sentiment from Stampendous’ Daisy Thanks stamp set in gold embossing powder. The Floating strips tutorial was from Splitcoaststampers and can be found here.
The pink card was the first card I created using the floating strips idea, cut out a dandelion die and smeared some glossy accents on it, stamping the background with Simon Says Stamps’ halftone square background stamp and adding a Bonnie sentiment. This one is not for the Double D Challenge but thought I’d share it anyway.

This is the Mood board for the gingham challenge to be used as inspiration.

Thanks for stopping in for a peek. Have a great weekend everyone!!
Lovely summer cards! I saw this idea earlier this week, but haven’t tried it. Looks great!
Beautiful cards. I’ll have to check out that technique.
Love the strips and gingham!
I love gig ham and especially the pink with the dandelion.
These are both so pretty. You just can’t go wrong with gingham on summer cards. I need to find some transparency paper and try that technique.
WOW! Both are absolutely BEAUTIFUL!! Love that floating strips technique … looks so cool! Great job Gayle!! Thanks so much for joining in the fun at our Double D ‘Summer Gingham’ challenge! Good Luck and we hope you’ll come back often.

Great cards and using the floating strips idea really works for them. It is one of the techniques I intend to try when back in my craft room. Love the soft colours you’ve used.
These are both fabulous cards. I really like your use of acetate. Did it cut well for you? I have trouble cutting acetate.
I did need to run the one die through my Big Shot a few times. I think the issue may have been the circle with the stitching on it.
I love the floating panels on both of these cards. Cool technique! The pink and black combination looks great as does the aquas and blues with the gold. Great cards!
Love how you have creating the floating image, so cool! Great choice of gingham too! Thanks so much for playing along with us at The Double D, Summer Gingham Challenge. Donna, DT Member.
Beautifully created, what a cool technique! Thank you for joining our challenge at Double D!
