This My Monthly Hero Kit from June 2019 is new to me. I got it in the resale section of my local stamp store. I embossed the background by running the Palm Frond Stencil by Honeybee through my Platinum 6 along with a baby wipe. The baby wipe gave the right amount of moisture to help emboss the stencil. I stamped the monkey and branch then colored with Copics E23, E31, E33, E35, E57, G21, G46, YR65 and YR68, then cut using the matching dies. The tall grass was stamped in Fresh Asparagus ink on Grass Green cardstock and cut with the matching die. Before putting the monkey on the branch I fussy cut the monkey and cut off his tail so I could attach it behind the branch. I matted the focal panel with Dark Chocolate, then placed on a Kraft card base. The sentiment from Wild About You by GinaK Designs was stamped in Dark Chocolate on Kraft ink and matted with Dark Chocolate. The sentiment on the inside was computer generated “Don’t monkey around, just have a Happy Birthday.
I’m entering it in the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge to use something new.
Super cute! Love the texture background and monkeys are always fun.
Thanks Lisa. I was pleased with how the background turned out .
This is a great walk on the wild side. Love the tail detail and thanks for the tip on baby wipe and dry embossing.
Thanks Bonnie. Jennifer McGuire used the baby wipe in a video a few months back. When mine didn’t look quite like hers, I checked back and found that she had sponged on Distress Ink, let it dry then embossed with the baby wipe. I’ll try that next time because I really did like the look and either way expands the use of my stencils.
I did see that clip, any time I use my stencils is a good time in the craft room
This is just too cute!!!
Thanks Diana
This looks great! Great job moving the tail behind the branch. Love your embossed background. I’ve not had much luck embossing with stencils and will definitely need to try your baby wipe trick – thank you for the suggestion!
Thanks Lisa. This was the first time I’d tried embossing a stencil. Jennifer McGuire did a video a few months back, but she sponged on Distress Ink before embossing. Gives a different look.
Great card and I will have to try the baby wipe stencil embossing technique. The monkey looks great sitting on the limb and fun inside sentiment.
Thanks Gayle. I really like the embossing technique and it’s a great way to expand the use of the stencils.
Judy, this is a great card! I absolutely love that set and you used it wonderfully. So, did the baby wipe go on the top of the stencil, or the paper? I’ve never heard of that trick, but I like the texture you got.
Thanks Golda. I’ll have to check the exact sandwich when i get home. It does give nice texture.
This is so cute. Great idea to put the tail behind the branch. I’m going to check out the baby wipe tip.
I have this same set and I love what you did with yours. I may CASE this idea as like this one so much. The stencil trick is one I must try as generally my stencils don’t give good embossing results. Your background is wonderful and that monkey looks so cheeky.
Thanks Johanna. It’s a really cool set and I was delighted to find it in the Re-Create section. It didn’t have the stencil or the paint card that came with the kit, but I was happy to get the matching dies with the stamps,
