Orange is not my Marmalade.

The theme for the As You See It Challenge 239 challenge is “The color I avoid using most is ____.” Orange is just not my jam. However I was inspired by a card Sandy Allnock made a couple of months ago. It is such fun to watch her create – her cards just come to life. I won a $25.00 gift card from Sunny Studio’s release in August. One of the sets I got was Bountiful Autumn which has some nice Thanksgiving images in addition to some cute turkeys. I made this card for my husband. I was surprised at how much orange I ended up using. In addition to the carrot and pumpkin, there was the table runner – I couldn’t decide on a different color for it. Then the white background was just too stark, so I toned it down by brushing on Dried Marigold Oxide ink. I tried several card bases, but the one that worked best was Tangerine Twist by Gina K Designs. This was fun to do.

    1. Thanks Lisa. There is a lot going on. I just wonder what the turkey will think when he realizes he’s feasting on his brother.

  1. Love your table of plenty, Judy. Great details and your pilgrim turkey is pretty cool. Loved your description and your orange marmalade works!

  2. Wow – this is a wonderful Thanksgiving table and card. You sure used a lot of orange and the result is just right. Great take on the challenge my friend.

    1. Thanks Johanna. It was a bit of a struggle getting everything placed just right but once I did I had a lot of fun with it.

  3. Your Thanksgiving scene looks great; love the turkey checking out the feast (and being thankful he’s not on that table – lol!) Orange is a perfect color for this card.

  4. Say what you will about orange, it sure gives off warmth and your card has a nice warm and cozy feel to it, even if the turkey is a cannibal, Judy! I loved your play on words in the title, too! Nice job on the background and all the colouring! Thanks for playing along with our challenge at As You See It Challenges!
