I have been having a blast creating patriotic cards. There are some great new sets out there. I’ve had a lot of fun coloring the USA/Flag design from Stamp Simply’s Old Glory set. I had cut the USA die using red CS to create a mat for an image that I had fussy cut. I was about to toss it when I realized it would work for the Scraps Challenge at Double D. I found an irregular shaped scrap from a patriotic pack by Authentic that just fit behind the aperture. Although most of the sentiments in the PP are right side up, the flag images are upside down – a sign of distress. But I guess that’s appropriate since our country is in distress right now. I embossed the sentiment from Patriotic Sentiments, also by Stamp Simply in gold EP. The mat is Blue Denim and the card base is Kraft.
You are sure having fun with your patriotic cards lately. I like this one and chuckled at your comment about the flags. From a foreigners perspective your country definitely seems to be in distress. Good find of paper that fit just right for the scrap piece.
Thanks Johanna. I am having fun with these sets. Yes, our country is in distress on so many levels right now.
I didn’t notice the flags being upside down, until I read your description. Still a lovely card.
Thanks Lisa. I guess with the collage-y look of the paper it’s not so noticeable that the flags are upside down.
You definitely are creating the best of the best patriotic cards, Judy. I didn’t notice the flags either and unfortunately in our topsy turvy times it does fit. Great card and glad you found a challenge for your scrap pieces.
Thanks Gayle. Although I made this and a few others for 4th of July, I found it fun that I was making them on Flag Day.
Such a gorgeous design with your scraps. I love the look with the mixture of colours and papers you have used. Thanks for joining us at Double “D” Challenges.

Thanks Amelia. I’ve been trying to use more pattern paper, which often means more scraps. Always good when I can find a good way to use them.
What a fabulous use of the scrap paper this is..love it!! Thank you for joining our challenge at Double D!
