3 Colors Addiction

Black, Brown, Cream, Tag and Shaker!

How did I develop this addiction for the ModSquadChallenge of using 3 Colors and much less the colors of black, brown and cream plus a tag!!! The only thing I can say is this is my third and final card in the challenge (I’m normally a one card gal) and I’m totally out of cream (Ivory) cardstock so I must stop!!

Cardstock used: GKD’s Black, Ivory and Charcoal Brown. I found some brown and cream patterned paper from GKD and used the Decorative Tag Set Die. The sentiment is from Sugar Pea’s Stamp of Approval set and was stamped in Memento’s Rich Cocoa and the YOU on the tag was stamped in GKD Ivory pigment ink. It was very light so I coated it in some glossy accents. The tag was cut in my ivory and inlaid with a smaller tag die in black. The cattails die is unknown and was cut out in the charcoal brown cardstock and added some wink of stella for a little sparkle. The window is from My Favorite Things Square Peek Window die. I made my own shakers by coating black and ivory cardstock in glossy accents, adding black glitter to the black letting dry and after cleaning up my glitter mess punched them out with a paper punch. I was pleasantly surprised when it worked and can thank Bonnie for inspiring me to use what is on hand.

ModSquadChallenge – 3 Colors –I wasn’t able to upload to the site because it does not accept more than three entries from the same site. I believe it counts my 2 and Lisa’s 1 card. In the future, I’ll only make one entry so others have a chance to join in. Good to know!

Thanks for looking and thanks for a provoking challenge, Gail Scott.

  1. Great card Gayle. I love how you created the shakers. What a bummer that you can’t post the card to the Mod Squad. If you’re on Facebook, maybe try posting it there – I’ve never done that but it might work.

    1. Thanks, Judy, I’ll try facebook. I just tried the StampTV but there was not place to link it back to them. I just didn’t want to use up all of the entries in case someone else wanted to enter their card.

  2. I can totally understand that our Stamp Buddies site counts as three. This is one site and each of you are contributors. Maybe someday, when you are ready, you can create your own free site and enter three there. How nice other sites don’t limit quite vigorously.

    1. I normally don’t do more than entry on a challenge because they are just for fun. I am quite happy here on the buddies blog. I just didn’t want anyone to miss out on a challenge.

    1. I won’t do more than on card per challenge as it’s not fair to others. That’s my normal and I’m not sure why I strayed from it except for those colors and that dreaded tag! Thanks Lisa.

      1. I removed my link from here and added it to SCS. That way, if Judy or anyone else wants to try, there will be one link available. Not a problem, at all!

  3. I am chuckling at your doing another card in those colours (non colour to my mind) as I became a bit obsessed with the challenge as well. I’m posting another one in a minute as I didn’t get time to do it yesterday. First though I think this card is really creative and you definitely were thinking outside the box. Secondly – too bad it won’t go into the challenge but you are obviously okay with that.

    1. Haha, Johanna, if these colors were enough of a challenge for me it was that silly tag! To me tags belong on gifts not cards. Posting to the challenge was not big deal it was more of a challenge to myself. Thanks for commenting…I’m off to check out your card.

    1. Thanks, Gerry, I normally don’t do shakers and I normally don’t add tags to cards so I thought I’d go for it. Thanks for your comments.
