Humming Along to the Jessamine Bush

I have been creating with the alpha challenge at Splitcoaststampers and the challenges are flowers this round. This weeks is the Jessamine flower, which is the State Flower of South Carolina.

To create this card, I used the Hummingbird set from Hero Arts with matching dies. I stamped the two flowers many times, coloring them with Copic markers, then cutting them with dies. I arranged them to resemble a bush with many blooms sticking out so the hummingbirds could find them.

This will be entered in the Triple B: August 2020 Challenge: https://dd-tripleb.blogspot.com/2024/08/august-2024-challenge.html

It has been a busy month at my house with two birthdays and a few doctor visits. I saw trees turning while we were out today. I was not expecting to see that yet.

Continuing through the Alphabet

I had to look and see the last alphabet challenge card I posted and it was V. I will share W, X, and Y for you to see.

For W, I chose the state of Washington. The state fruit is the red apple. I had fun creating this with the Apple Harvest stamp and die set from Stampin Up.

I used Lawn Fawn’s Ahoy Matey stamp set for this card. I found several cards on Pinterest which I combined to create this. One card had directions to create the treasure map, so I used her directions to create the paper that looked old. I followed her directions and Tombow marker colors for coloring my images. I used a few other cards to help with the layout. I enjoyed creating this card. It was mailed today to my BIL for his birthday.

My destination for Y is Yakama, Washington. They produce 50% of the Concord Grapes used in grape juice. I used Lawn Fawn Year Ten set for this card along with the newest Embroidery die set. The gingham paper is Gina K Designs along with matching cardstock. This was fun to create.

I am in the last week of the challenge for the letter Z. I have enjoyed creating these cards as I often had to think about where to go, what to use, and how to create the card. Sometimes I searched for ideas and other times, I just looked in my stash. Thanks for sharing in these creations.

State Fair

I have been working on this card for three days. I finally finished it and will share it now.

This week is the S location for the alphabet challenge I have been participating. I started with the thought process of heading to Six Flags, so out came the Lawn Fawn stamp sets that were ride oriented. As I kept adding more and more elements, I realized that it fit a fair better than the amusement park I remember. So I turned it into a State Fair.

I used three Lawn Fawn sets on this card: Wheely Great Day, Coastal Critters, Coastal Critters Flip-Flop. The colors used for the background are also Lawn Fawn inks. I used a sunray stencil from Spellbinders for the sky. I saw this idea on Pinterest and changed it a little.

This will be entered in Crazy is our fame challenge: https://stencilfun.blogspot.com/2024/04/april-stencil-fun-challenge.html

I will also enter it in Word Art Wednesday: https://wordartwednesday.blogspot.com/2024/04/anything-goes-weeks-645-646.html

The alphabet challenge has become one of my favorite challenges to participate in. I like finding new ways to use the many sets in my stash, or like this time, borrowing from my daughter’s stash.

Positive Thoughts Birthday

I created a card today using colors from Splitcoast Stampers color challenge. This will be mailed to a person celebrating her birthday in May.

I used the stamp set Positive Thought by Stampin Up and the dies that are associated with the set. The colors are Fresh Freesia, Daffodil Delight, and Gorgeous Grape with the neutral of Mossy Meadow. I used a very retired SU set called tile something.

This card will be entered in the Triple B April challenge: https://dd-tripleb.blogspot.com/2024/04/april-2024-challenge.html

It will also be entered in the Can You Handle the Pressure? https://cyhtp.blogspot.com/2024/04/april-13th-2024-anything-goes-with.html

It will be entered in Word Art Wednesday Anything Goes: https://wordartwednesday.blogspot.com/2024/04/anything-goes-weeks-643-644.html

I enjoyed creating a card today that will be mailed as soon as I can get the envelope addressed. Thanks for stopping by and seeing my card. Enjoy the Spring weather. We are definitely feeling Spring where I live.

Easter Daffodils

I made an Easter card with daffodils. This will be entered in Shopping Our Stash and also on Splitcoast Stampers in the Challenge Your Stash and March to the Beat challenge.

The daffodils are from a Simon Says Stamp set called Joys of Spring. The Happy Easter greeting came from a Your Next Stamp set. The patterned paper is Echo Park ad the green print is from Memento. The cardbase is from my stash and matched well with everything.

I am the hostess for both Splitcoast Stampers challenges for the month of March. I sent each person in the March to the Beat challenge two pieces of the stamped daffodil image, several greetings from the same set and a few more. They also received a piece of this green patterned paper as well as a yellow piece. It is fun to see how each person uses the same image differently. The Challenge Your Stash group will each be making Easter cards as that is the theme I chose. I look forward to seeing the variety.

The Shopping our Stash is titled Spring Has Sprung: https://shoppingourstash.blogspot.com/2024/03/sos518-spring-has-sprung.html

This is my other daffodil card that I created a few weeks ago. I wish each of my Buddies a very Happy Easter. I will not be sending cards as I just didn’t get them made. I have these two and I think I will send them to my two aunts, who should receive them my Easter.

Cooking with MImi

The Sisterhood of Crafters is all about dots or stripes. I made a card today that has stripes.

This is my destination card for this week, a kitchen for K. I chose to use Yummy Mimi from Penny Black for my focal image. The greeting is from a Hero Arts set. I presented my daughter with a few pieces of paper and she suggested the stripes as they matched the colors in my image. The stripes are perfect for the Sisterhood of Crafters challenge.

I appreciate you coming by today. Enjoy your day!

Songbird Singing

I worked on a songbird card and found it fits a few challenges.

My songbird is from Stampin Up. It is called Sweet Songbird and has matching punch, which I used. I had a die in another set that I used for the greeting strip. The stitched circle die is also SU, and is very retired. I used patterned paper in the color Orchid Oasis; one side is plaid and the other side is dotted. The branch is stamped in Gina K Designs ink, black ink is Memento, and the green is Stampin Up. I found an orange color that I cut a small piece and punched the beak.

This card was originally made for the Challenge Your Stash group at Splitcoaststampers to use a bird on a card. It is National Bird Feeding Month, so Barb chose a bird. I am also adding this to the Double D Challenge to use patterned paper and the Triple B challenge to use a bird.

Thank you for joining me today. I enjoyed creating this card. There is a lot of inspiration for this bird on Pinterest, so I used one and made it work for my stash.

Destination cards H, I , and J

I have been behind on sharing my destination cards. My family has been very helpful with finding destinations for me.

We were hearing noises that sounded like a hot air balloon being filled, so that is what prompted me to use a Hot Air Balloon Festival for H.

For the I destination, my daughter suggested India. Their national bird is Peacock, so that is what I went with.

This week’s letter was J. I chose Jungle, per my daughter’s idea. This is a new Stampin Up set and it was begging to be used. I enjoyed coloring these images, which were all fussy cut. I had the patterned paper and added Catherine Pooler leaves. The branch came from Hero Arts and the greeting from WPlus9. It was fun to create.

Thanks for joining in my alphabet challenge cards. I enjoy creating these. I like stretching my mind and using supplies that I have had for some time.

You Octopi my Heart

I made a card with a heart and it fits perfectly with the current Double D Challenge.

I used the Lawn Fawn Octopi my Heart stamp. The colored papers and printed one are from SU and the white is Accent White. I fussy cut the images I colored as I do not own the matching dies.

Thanks for stopping by. This card was created with the February Crafter’s of Faith challenge at Splitcoast Stampers.
