Birthday CASE Cards

I have several birthday cards to send during January, so I have been seeking inspiration and using new-to-me stamps. Pinterest is my friend in seeking inspiration lately.

Happy Birthday Case One
Happy Birthday CASE Two

The two cards above are basically the same. I used retired sets for all of the stamping. The large flowers are from Flower Shop, the birthday sentiment from Bring on the Cake, and the small flower is from Bloomin Love. I used the same colors for both cards: Rococoa Rose, Seaside Spray, and GKD Kraft. The cardstock is GKD Kraft, SU Rococoa Rose or Seaside Spray, and Spectrum Noir White. I added a bit of sparkle and bling to several flowers. I found this idea on Pinterest along with the color mix.

Today I created a card based on the Featured Stampers work on Split Coast Stampers. Back to retired stamp sets for my card.

Featured Stamper FS673

I used Stippled Blossom by SU for the flower and leaves. The sentiment is from PTI Delightful Dalia. I added score lines to the top of the card to provide a bit of interest for the Clean and Simple card. I also had a lot of sparkle on the flower.

Thanks for looking at my parade of cards.

Red, Green, and Gold

This card will be entered in the CAS Colours & Sketch Challenge.

The colors used are Shaded Spruce for the leaves, Cherry Cobbler for the flower and cardbase, and gold for the greeting and layer. The stamp set used is Merry and Bright by Gina K Designs. I used the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder. I rarely think of layers for a CAS card, but this one has a lot of white, so I think it will work for CAS.

Harvest of Happiness

Creating with the Retro Rubber Challenge.

I used two stamp sets in this card: GKD Give Thanks (2016) and SU Paper Pumpkin, Bold Botanicals (2016). I colored flowers with alcohol markers, both Spectrum Noir and Copic, blending the colors to look like Autumn leaves. I decided to go back to old school and add dashed lines around the outside of the flowers and the tag.

Congratulations Nurse

I took a step away from holiday cards to create a special card for a new graduate. My husband’s cousin just graduated with a Master’s in Science in Nursing. This is a huge achievement, especially when you have a family, full-time job, and are not as young as you used to be.

Congratulations!
Congratulations Inside

I used the Sizzix Framelits Drop-ins Horizontal dies for this card. The owl was created with the SU Owl Builder Punch, retired. The cardbase is Early Expresso from SU, along with the background dotted DSP. It is from the Neutral collection, also retired. I purchase a lot of retired cardstock and Designer Series Paper from the clearance rack from SU. The Kraft cardstock is Gina K Designs. The red is from a scrap pile, probably GKD though.

I used one stamp inside, Massive Messages, from Gina K Designs. The ink has a shadow because I began stamping with Early Expresso ink spot and it was getting quite dried out, so I switched to Expresso Truffle from Memento. I guess the paper shifted a bit, in my MISTI, so I got this nice shadow. I like it, so I left it alone.

This card is being entered in the Global Design Project:

3 Colors & a Tag

Finally had time to play to enter the Mod Squad Challenge . Although black and brown are not colors I usually use together, I was afraid the tag would be my undoing. Yesterday I went to one of our two remaining stamp stores in the area and found a wonderful gingham stencil by Newton’s Nook. I used GKD Warm Cocoa ink on GKD Heavy Weight Ivory – close to cream IMHO to create the background. I matted it with Black Onyx and used an Ivory card base. The tag dies I had were either too big or too small, then I found this one that came with my Gemini Jr. and it was just right. I cut apart the birthday sentiment from Massive Message to fit the tag. I decided the tag needed something else, so I drew around the outside of the die on Warm Cocoa CS and fussy cut a mat. I really like how this turned out and will probably be making more to use for masculine cards.

Amazing Butterflies

Rainbow of Butterflies

This is for the Monthly Mix Challenge with Gina K Designs.

I used the butterfly die from GKD, along with 2 stamp sets, A Beautiful Life and Keep Calm. The words “you are” is from A Beautiful Life; I masked the “a” off of the image. The word “AMAZING” had the word “BE” with it, so I masked the BE off; this is from Keep Calm. I used the GKD/Thermoweb oval die in the largest size to layer the butterflies on.

Thanks for looking at my rainbow of butterflies.

Progressive Card Class Day 1 Beginner

I am taking an Altenew Adademy class called Progressive Card Making, taught by Justine Hovey. Each day has three levels, beginner, intermediate, advanced. Following are Day 1 beginner photos.

Card 1: GKD Rose Peonies
Card 2: SU All that You Are

This day is all about stamping. We lined the stamps up on half of the Misti, then rotated the paper and stamped again. I did add a few images to fill in the white spaces. I am enjoying this class. It is independent, so I do not have to hurry. My day 1 has lasted a few days.

I used Lawn Fawn Hippo ink for the flowers and Versafine Black ink for the greetings, embossed with clear embossing powder.
