Grateful

I am using items I have had in my stash for quite a while that have never seen ink or been used.

The stencil used is called Modern Holly by Taylored Expressions. I purchased a grab bag full of stencils a year ago and this is one that I hadn’t used. I chose to use gray as the base color as it is a neutral. The greeting Grateful for all you do is from a set by Gina K Designs, Fluttering Fall. It was a birthday gift last year and these pieces have never seen ink or been cut before. The butterfly is new from Your Next Stamp, which is closing, and was a inexpensive addition to the order placed recently.

The colors used to ink are Lawn Fawn inks: Manatee, Fake Tan, and Juice Box. The cardstock is from Gina K Designs.

This will be entered in Color Hues #71: https://colorhuesthecolorchallenge.blogspot.com/2023/09/color-hues-71-tangerine-and-violet.html

It will also be entered in Crazy is our Fame – Stencils are our Game September Stencil challenge. These colors are Fall themed, so I am sticking to the theme of the challenge.

I enjoyed using these colors to create a card. I also was thrilled to finally use items that I hadn’t gotten to use. I know of a challenge that the butterfly would fit, but I have another butterfly card in mind, so I will wait. Thanks for stopping by and sharing in my card.

Apricot and Aqua flowers

I saw the challenge at Just Us Girls on Saturday when they unveiled the color challenge. I do not own anything that reads Apricot ink, but found it does exist, so I used what I had.

I used the SU Fresh Flowers stamp and matching dies. I colored the leaves with Copic markers BG15 and BG13. For the flowers, I used SU Pale Papaya Stampin Blends, which are their alcohol markers. My first coloring smeared the black ink over the flowers, so I saved it by stamping again and popping up the flowers. I guess my ink was not dry before coloring, but the aqua did not smear, so I didn’t notice. I used vellum embossing with a Darice folder. The diamond edge was cut with a die from the Fresh Flowers die set. My cardbase is Sea Glass from Gina K Designs. I think I managed to find close enough apricot and aqua colors.

Thanks for stopping by. I enjoyed these colors and had fun creating.

What’s Cooking

Today was the day to post my card for the Challenge Your Stash group at Split Coast Stampers. The theme is What’s Cooking? I have the perfect stamp set with the same name from Hero Arts, dated 2009. This card will also work for the Make My Monday Challenge of Hobbies.

I enjoy cooking and it can be a hobby. I read cookbooks and spend time thinking of how to create the dish and will it get eaten if I go to the work to create it. I used patterned paper from Gina K Designs with the pumpkins to paper piece the apron and add a mat to the greeting. The utensils were all fussy cut, colored with alcohol markers first. The background has images that were stamped with embossing ink. The cardstock used is Red Velvet from Gina K Designs.

Hello Sunshine

I love sunflowers. I own many sunflower stamps and some even have matching dies. Today I used Newton’s Nook Hello Sunshine stamp set.

These sunflowers are enjoyable to color. I used a few Spectrum Noir markers to color and then outlined the image with a Copic Warm Gray marker. I am on a quest to use more of my patterned paper and this one came from Gina K Designs. The card base is from The Stamps of Life.

The Double D Challenge has the perfect challenge for this card: https://daranddiane.blogspot.com/2023/08/sunflowers.html

Our weather is totally August in MO right now. I will be inside with the humidity coming in at 94% right now. More time to create sunflower designs, however, first is a birthday card to complete. DD1’s birthday is quickly approaching and I do not want it to be last minute, like DD2’s was.

Floral Stencil Hello

I make a lot of cards that say Hello as they can be used for anything. I also make a lot of Thinking of You cards for the same reason; they can be adapted to be used for many occasions. Today, I combined the two greetings into one floral card.

I used the layering stencil from Gina K Designs called A Little Hello Layering Stencil Bundle. My Thinking of You greeting strip came from My Favorite Things Itty Bitty Basics with strip die to cut it out.

I used Lawn Fawn inks to blend the layers. I used Lemonade for the flower base layer, then added Peach Fuzz for the strips. The circle center is Fake Tan (orange color). The greens used are Celery Stalk and Freshly Cut Grass. After the ink blending was finished and dry, I came back with Simon Hurley Solar Paste. It adds a shimmer of sparkle when it is flashed in the light; it does not photograph well to see the shine.

This will be entered in August Stencil Challenge: https://stencilfun.blogspot.com/2023/08/august-stencil-fun.html

The last challenge this will be entered in is the Triple B August Challenge: https://dd-tripleb.blogspot.com/2023/08/august-challenge.html

Thank you for coming by and seeing my card.

One Layer Birthday

Today I decided to create a one layer birthday card. I always need birthday cards and in honor of my sister, I made a birthday card today. It is her birthday.

I used Stampin Up So Very Grateful flower image; this set was released in 2014. I chose Gina K Designs Scripty Sayings for my greeting; it was released in 2016. I colored the flower image with alcohol markers then added a bit of sparkle with a Jelly Roll Glitter Pen. I added the score lines to add something extra to the one layer card.

This will be entered in The Sisterhood of Crafters: Keep it Simple https://thesisterhoodofcrafters.blogspot.com/2023/08/keep-it-simple.html

This card will also be entered in Less is More: Challenge #489 – One Layer https://simplylessismoore.blogspot.com/2023/08/challenge-489-one-layer.html

The last challenge it will be entered in is Retro Rubber Challenge #412 https://www.retrorubberchallengeblog.com/my-blog/2023/08/challenge-212-anything-goes.html

It has been a long time since I have created a one layer card. It is nice to create a clean and simple card sometimes. They may say CAS but they are never quick to create. I always want to add more, like a black layer, gems, or possibly a strip of paper, but walking away is the best choice to make with the CAS card.

Guest Designing Color Challenges

I have been guest designing for the color challenges each Tuesday in June, at Splitcoast Stampers. I have enjoyed creating each card using specific colors.

CC951 used the colors Berry Burst, Shaded Spruce, and Lemon Lolly with the dessert of flowers. I used Berry Burst for the brick wall and the center flower. Shaded spruce was used on each flower stem. I do not own Lemon Lolly, so I substituted Gina K Designs Lemon Drop. I added neutrals of Misty Moonlight for the sky and Crumb Cake for the top of my fence and a background layer. The flowers are from the Art Gallery set.

CC952 had colors of Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, Coastal Cabana, and Granny Apple Green. The dessert was using a die cut or punch. My cupcake is a triplets die designed by Stephanie Bernard for Sizzix, very retired. I found the greeting in a Gina K Designs set along with the stars. The small greeting is from a SU set. This was fun to create.

CC953 used the colors Balmy Blue, Azure Afternoon, and Sweet Sorbet with the dessert of added a favorite green. I used a mixture of Lawn Fawn Jalapeño and Freshly Cut Grass for my leaves. I used the stamp set Fresh Cut Flowers with coordinating dies for my flower. The hello is from a My Favorite Things set. I ran the Azure Afternoon rectangle layers through the Subtle embossing folder as they needed a bit of texture. I am quite happy with this card.

CC954 uses the colors Blueberry Bushel, Real Red, and white with a dessert of patriotic. My flag card uses Stamp Simply Grand Old Flag set. I added stars to the background with Lawn Fawn star dies. I embossed the background first with the SU stars folder. I have made this kind of card several times over the last few years and all went to a nursing home.

My door card has a wreath made the the challenge colors. I saw this wreath on Pinterest and added my own spin with the door. This door is from Holiday Frame and Holiday Frame fillers illustrated by Melanie Muenchinger.

I enjoyed creating for this months color challenges. All are available to participate in as the challenges never close. Thanks for reading all about my month of guest designing and what I created.

All About You Silhouette

This card came about as a CASE from the Splitcoast Stampers Featured Stamper, Tammy. I chose a card of here that has masking, ink blending, and a stamped floral. I kept the masking, ink blending and floral but used different colors and stamps.

I ink blended Lovely Lavender, by Gina K Designs, into a rectangle in the center. I used Meadow by Inkadinkadoo for the floral. The greeting is a Stampin Up set called Expressions of Friendship. The Less is More Challenge is to use light purple and black on a card. I think my camera made the lavender look a bit pink, but it is lavender in real life.

Here is a link to Tammy’s card: https://stampwithtammy.com/less-is-more/

My card will be entered in the Less is More Challenge: https://simplylessismoore.blogspot.com/2023/06/challenge-485-colours.html

It is a lovely sunny day here. I love the sunshine and hope to walk outside and enjoy a bit of it. Thanks for spending a little time with me looking at my card.

Enjoy the Lemonade

I created this card when I was on the design team for Splitcoast Stampers but never used it or posted it anywhere. It fits the Double D Challenge for Lemon-Ade so I will share it now.

I used Simple Stories Vintage Lemon Twist patterned paper for the background. I used Power Poppy Tea in the Garden stamp set for the focal image and greeting. I used Doily 1 die from The Stamps of Life with Sea Glass Cardstock for the scallops around the lemonade. Inks used are Slate for the greeting and Memento Tuxedo Black for the image that I colored with alcohol markers. This is a 5 X 7 card.

I really like this pack of patterned paper. I have the accompanying stamp set by Simon Says Stamp, now, so I will hopefully create a few cards using these products. I never posted this card because my daughter, who was helping me with photos, said it didn’t really fit the theme I was creating for. I like the card so am thrilled to have an excuse to share it.
