WCMD 2019 with Joy Clair Challenge 3

This is my final entry for the Joy Clair challenges. Here is the challenge: https://joyclair.typepad.com/blog/2019/10/world-card-making-day-2019-with-joy-clair-challenge-3.html

Basically, I covered a box, decorating it for a birthday. I used patterned paper, cardstock pieces, and a stamp set all from Gina K Designs. This is all from the Birthday Hoot set and matching papers.

You can see two of the sides that have added items. The other two sides have the ribbon and nothing else. I do not remember covering a box before, so this is new. Rather than do much to the box itself, I placed the decorations where it wouldn’t interfere with the lid closing. This was fun and different.

More Stamptember cards

I have been adding to the Simon Says Stamp Blog for their Stamptemer releases for a few vendors. First is the Gina K Designs card I created. It was made with the Split Coast Stampers MISTI challenge in mind, as that challenge is all about a silhouette image. Wetlands 2 is the perfect set for silhouette images. The background was created with Tiny Textures.

The next card was created for the Hero Arts link. I recently acquired the Joy Burst woodblock stamp and decided to do a bit of watercolor.

JOY

These were both enjoyable to create. I used the SU Top Note die for the main cut of the Joy, and the wanted to pop the center up, so I used the Spellbinders Labels 8 dies. I like this stamp set. Hopefully I will put my thinking cap on and find other ideas for it.

Thanks for spending time looking at my cards.

Stenciled Waves

Stenciled Waves

This is for the Mod Squad challenge: http://modsquadchallenge.com/stenciled-background-tag-or-card/

Details: Stencil is called Waves from A Colorful Life: https://acolorfullifedesigns.com/waves/

I used Lawn Fawn inks: Moonstone, Forget Me Not, and Fish Tank in blending the color onto the stencil.

The Frame was created with a Hero Arts Designer Woodgrain woodblock stamp. I have had it for well over 10 years and it worked perfect for the frame. The brads on the frame are Gina K Designs from my stash, and the ink is Warm Cocoa also GKD.

The fish and sea creatures are from The Stamps of Life, Under the Sea. It is from an online class, so it is not available to purchase.

I had fun making this card. It is a 6 X 6 inch card to accommodate the stencil size. I didn’t want to cut it down once I finished stenciling it. This is the first time using A Colorful Life stencils. I like them and they are good quality.

Update from Mod Squad…This card was selected as a Top 3 winner.

Raccoon Patterned Paper card

This is the second card for this month’s challenge at Gina K Designs. https://www.ginakdesigns.com/2019/09/02/september-2019-monthly-mix-challenge/

Raccoon Patterned Paper Card

I have used this layout many times. I always go to Gina K Designs You Tube channel and search for box and find the layout. This is easy to make several and combine in a box for gift giving. I used the Sun Kissed Autumn paper pack and the Autumn Wishes stamp set and dies.

Corner Bookmark

This project is for the Mod Squad Challenge: http://modsquadchallenge.com/anything-but-a-card/

MSC Corner Bookmark

I used a tutorial from Split Coast Stampers to get the size correct. I have made this kind of bookmark several times. It hold up well. The base of this bookmark is Turquoise Sea cardstock. The patterned paper is The Simple Things as well as the stamps used. all by Gina K Designs. The border was cut using a Lawn Fawn die.

Easel Post-it Note Holder

I found a wonderful tutorial in making this kind of note holder with Mary Fish: https://stampinpretty.com/2018/08/country-home-easel-post-it-note-holder.html

I used Gina K Designs patterned paper and stamps. This is for this week’s Mod Squad Challenge: http://modsquadchallenge.com/anything-but-a-card/

Post-it Note Holder

The stamps used are Inspiring Poppies and Happy Mail. When beginning the project, I should have began with the post-it note and colors to match. I couldn’t find a color of notes that were close to the easel color, so I chose one with a design on the note. Then I got the idea of covering the part that doesn’t match. I will probably send this to someone and they can remove the top page of the notes and use them.

Basket Weave Fall Card

I made a card with the basket weave technique for the Thursday challenge on Split Coast Stampers. I specifically chose fall colors to work with the Mod Squad Challenge for this week: http://modsquadchallenge.com/fall-stampendous/

The cardstock used is SU Early Expresso and GKD Ivory. I used scraps for the die cut leaves. I wanted the die cut leaves on the front and they needed to be on a color that would help them to be seen, so I made the labels to place them on. The labels were cut using a Hero Arts die and embossed with SU Layered Leaves 3D folder. The sentiment “grateful” came from GKD Skeleton Leaves.

The inside was stamped with a leaf image that was won in a grab bag from Gina K Designs. I do not know the name of the stamp set it originally came from. I used fall colored Memento inks to stamp it. The inside sentiment came from SU Painted Harvest. It is stamped in Memento Expresso Truffle which is a great match for the cardstock.

This was a fun technique to learn and create.

Birthday Celebration Flip-it Card

I had fun making this flip-it card.

Birthday Celebration front
Birthday Celebration inside

The cardstock and patterned paper are from The Stamps of Life. This is the first time I have used their patterned paper and cardstock together. Love how the colors match.

The front stamped greeting is from the Stampin’Up, March Paper Pumpkin, set called Poppin’ Birthday. The inside greeting is also SU called Bring on the Cake. This is for a 25th birthday as you can see with the numbers being colored.

I used Gina K Designs Red Hot ink for the greeting. It matched the paper perfectly. The Tombow marker #856 matches the ink and paper quite well, so it was used to color the numbers.

I made the fold out piece to either write something or place a gift card there. I can add a vellum envelope to hold the gift card, if needed.

Dies used are the Sizzix Framelits Flip-its with a circle. I thought circle was part of the name, but it doesn’t appear to be. I used SU Stitched Shapes Framelits for the white circles. The white paper is Whisper White from SU. This is also a first for me. I had a couple of pieces, so pulled one out to use with this card. It is a smooth white and bright. I really like it.

This is for my daughter who is not into pinks and frills. Hopefully this will be acceptable to her.
