Under the Clouds

Creating a card for the alpha challenge allowed me to enter it in other challenges.

This is such a fun image. This little chick is from Unity Stamp Company. I have no idea what it is called as I couldn’t find it on the website. The samples on Pinterest just called it a chick.

I have found several challenges I am entering this in. I know this chick has wings, so we will say the wings are hidden. The Cardz 4 Galz contest wants winged things. The As You See It challenge wants spots. The Word Art Wednesday is anything goes. The Stencil Fun challenge is for any kind of stencil.

I chose to paper piece this cute chick using MFT patterned paper, mostly. The orange piece on the umbrella is from Echo Park. The stencil I used is from Lawn Fawn, inked with Lawn Fawn ink.

It was fun to create something different, for me. Usually I am coloring the image and adding layers, so masking, stenciling, and then paper piecing was enjoyable. Thank you for reading my post. Hope you are having an enjoyable day!

Pink Flower Birthday Card

Each month I receive a stamped image and sometimes patterned paper to create a card with. The month of May was Sue’s month. I received images from Stampin Up Friendly Hello set and patterned paper. I own this set so I added a few leaves and a die cut to add a bit to balance my design.

The white frame to hold the images is from Stampin Up and is very retired. I cut out the bird and flower image provided, but added the large flowers in the front. I had those in my stamp case already colored, so I matched the marker colors to the small flowers. I found some pink paper in my stash that worked well with the provided patterned paper and placed everything on a white card base. I added gems to the center of each flower; once again very retired SU.

I see the Card 4 Gals challenge has ended.

I am adding this card to each of these challenges linked.

For the May Triple B challenge, I have a bird and flowers.

The Sisterhood of Crafters Challenge is about flowers.

The Word Art Wednesday is Anything Goes.

Seize the Birthday is to add flowers to the birthday card.

It is nice to create a card that fits so many challenges. Thank you for stopping by and seeing my card. Last month was Virtual Stamp Night at Splitcoast Stampers. I hosted a challenge and made several samples for the other challenges. It is nice to be able to make a card that I want to make that is not dependent on a time frame and specific challenge. This card happened to fit all of these challenges.

Sparkling Christmas

I made three cards with one layout. I will share all three cards and choose one to post to the Cardz 4 Galz challenge.

All patterned paper and ephemera are from Spellbinders Sparkling Christmas 2019 card kit. I chose three pieces of paper and cut them following the Natasha Foote layout that Buddy Johanna linked. I think my favorite is card 2 with the swan and little poinsettia flowers. My lighting is a bit off today as it was cloudy outside. Even with natural light, it still didn’t photograph as well as some days.

A couple of posts ago I mentioned medical stuff in my family. It turns out that our daughter has kidney stones which are very painful. We are awaiting the doctor appointment this week then hopefully it will be resolved soon. Thank you for those who noticed my post and asked.

G is for Grandma’s house

This week my destination in the alphabet challenge was the letter G. Once again, my husband helped me with a destination. My grandmother was an avid quilter and crochet many items. I learned to chain stitch with her help then over the years, learned to crochet quite well.

The stamp set used is Altenew Granny Squares. I used Gina K Designs Innocent Pink, Dusty Rose, Tomato Soup, and Fired Brick inks for each row. I used the matching die to cut each square out, then assembled them into a blanket. It was very much like piecing a quilt in the assembly. I chose to leave the greeting off of the card so I can use it when needed.

I have been told to enter this in the Cardz 4 Galz challenge as it matches the colors. I am thrilled to enter in this challenge.

Thank you for stopping by today. It has been quite dreary with our rain, but the sun is supposed to be coming out tomorrow and the next day. I am looking forward to seeing sunshine!

Stack the Holidays

I made a card this week that I can share. It will be entered in the Cardz 4 Galz challenge.

This stamp set is from Your Next Stamp along with the matching die. I used several alcohol markers to color this. The patterned paper is all Stampin Up, very retired. The cardbase is also SU. The sequins are SU from a Paper Pumpkin kit. I believe the stamp set is called Stack the Holidays.

I wish each of you a very Merry Christmas! Thanks for stopping by and seeing my fun card.

Thank You

In July and August, I was a hostess and verified entries for the Dare to Get Dirty challenges at Splitcoast Stampers. One item I said I would perform is to send Thank You cards to the sponsors. These cards went out the door within in the last few weeks. I was waiting for all of the prizes to be given, which took a while.

This was one layout I used. Basically I took a 12 X 12 piece of DSP, patterned paper, from Stampin Up and cut it into 4 X 5 1/4 pieces. Then I matted the pieces with a matching piece of cardstock. The color is Evening Evergreen which matches the green in the DSP. I pulled an old Hero Arts greeting from my stash; it is in a woodblock designer case and there are many greeting stamps in the collection. I added the strip of cardstock as a ribbon substitute then finished with a gem.

This card will be added to the Cardz 4 Galz challenge: https://cardz4galz.blogspot.com/2023/11/211-thank-you-thankful-or-thanksgiving.html

Thank you for stopping by. I always appreciate the comments. Our weather turned bitter cold this week but we are headed for 60 degrees today! I am excited as I do not like cold and it is a bit too early for winter.

Halloween Slimline

Continuing to create with the Spooky and Mice set from Simon Says Stamp, I made a slimline card.

I saw a few cards created by the Simon Says Stamp designers and used a few for inspiration. One had a background of stars, another had the images arranged like this, and another had different coloring and many used the gel pen for highlights. I took all of their inspiration in and created this card. I used Gina K Designs Layering White cardstock for most of the images, and while laying this out, I needed a few more images. I have a pack of white strips from SU Basic White cardstock very close to where I create, so I took a strip and stamped more candy images. Then went to coloring with alcohol markers and adding the gel pen.

I chose three colors for the stars–Lawn Fawn Fake Tan (orange), Manatee (light gray) and SU Misty Moonlight (blue). The star stencil is a very old retired SU one.

First challenge, http://cardz4galz.blogspot.com/2023/09/use-stencil-sentiment-image.html

I used the stencil, many sentiments, and several images to meet this challenge.

Another Challenge: https://halloweencraftsallyearround.blogspot.com/2023/09/sept-15-oct-14-challenge-8.html

I think that is enough challenges. I will post this to splitcoast stampers and link to Two Old Bats from there.

I enjoyed creating this fun card. This stamp set was definitely a good purchase for my daughter. She is the Halloween fanatic as she loves the holiday and finds many clear and rubber stamps to create with. She owns then and I use them; works perfect for me. Thanks for reading my long post. Have a wonderful last day of summer.

Autumn Greetings

I used older product to create an autumn leaves card.

I used a set from 2016, SU Blended Seasons. I stamped the leaves in Archival Sepia ink, then used watercolor pencils and a blender pen to add color. It was die cut with the dies that were released with the stamp set. I embossed, GKD Dark Chocolate cardstock with the SU Layered Leaves folder; it is very retired. The greeting came from Your Next Stamp Autumn Greetings, with a date of 2015. I am enjoying creating with product from my stash giving it new life.

We found this interesting fungus growing in our yard. I have never seen anything like this. I thought it looked like Mums, but we have none growing that I am aware of. Enjoy!
