Roses in Red and Purple

This is my second card for today. I colored these roses several days ago and then got sidetracked with Halloween and other things. So, today I finished the roses card.

This card was created with the Color Hues in mind: https://colorhuesthecolorchallenge.blogspot.com/2023/09/special-challenge-lindseys-legacy-hop.html

I used SU gray for the cardbase, Accent white for the roses and the embossed shape. The stamp set used is Technique Tuesday Sending Roses along with coordinating dies. The shape was cut from SU Deco Labels and embossed with the Swiss Dots embossing folder. I added gems from Taylored Expressions (purple ones) and Stampin Up (red ones).

Today was the perfect day for me to post a rose card. It would have been my mother’s birthday and roses were her favorite flower. Each year, I would purchase a new rose set to use on her birthday card. This was a new set given to me, so I was thrilled to use it. I think my Mom would have preferred her roses to be just one color, but she would have enjoyed this card. Thanks for spending time with me and reading about my rose card.

Halloween Slimline

Continuing to create with the Spooky and Mice set from Simon Says Stamp, I made a slimline card.

I saw a few cards created by the Simon Says Stamp designers and used a few for inspiration. One had a background of stars, another had the images arranged like this, and another had different coloring and many used the gel pen for highlights. I took all of their inspiration in and created this card. I used Gina K Designs Layering White cardstock for most of the images, and while laying this out, I needed a few more images. I have a pack of white strips from SU Basic White cardstock very close to where I create, so I took a strip and stamped more candy images. Then went to coloring with alcohol markers and adding the gel pen.

I chose three colors for the stars–Lawn Fawn Fake Tan (orange), Manatee (light gray) and SU Misty Moonlight (blue). The star stencil is a very old retired SU one.

First challenge, http://cardz4galz.blogspot.com/2023/09/use-stencil-sentiment-image.html

I used the stencil, many sentiments, and several images to meet this challenge.

Another Challenge: https://halloweencraftsallyearround.blogspot.com/2023/09/sept-15-oct-14-challenge-8.html

I think that is enough challenges. I will post this to splitcoast stampers and link to Two Old Bats from there.

I enjoyed creating this fun card. This stamp set was definitely a good purchase for my daughter. She is the Halloween fanatic as she loves the holiday and finds many clear and rubber stamps to create with. She owns then and I use them; works perfect for me. Thanks for reading my long post. Have a wonderful last day of summer.

CAS HALLOWEEN pUMPKIN

I have been coloring Halloween images to create a Clean and Simple Halloween card. Sometimes I want to keep adding, but I think I was able to keep it CAS.

The pumpkins and candy came from the Stamptember collaboration with Simon Says Stamp and Whimsy Stamps, called Spooky and Mice Stamps. I colored them using alcohol based markers, then added a white gel pen for highlights. The greeting is from Lawn Fawn Simply Fall Sentiments set. I used a Cuttlebug embossing folder for the spider web.

This will be placed at Splitcoast Stampers in this week’s Clean and Simple challenge with the Halloween theme. https://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/3136679

It will be placed in the Two Old Bats Halloween Challenge: https://twooldbatshalloweenchallenge.blogspot.com/2023/09/september-2023-mid-month-reminder.html This was actually lined from my Splitcoast Stampers account. We had reached the limit on the blog.

The next challenge is called Halloween Crafts All Year Round: https://halloweencraftsallyearround.blogspot.com/2023/09/sept-15-oct-14-challenge-8.html

It will be entered in the Most Magical Time of the Year: https://mostmagicaltimeoftheyear.blogspot.com/2023/09/challenge-12-most-magical-anything.html

That is quite a few challenges. I have made a few Halloween cards this year for the Dirty Dozen Challenges, which I didn’t post here on the blog and one for a swap. This is the first one I have made with new images where I took time to color. I colored all of the images in the set, but only used a few here.

Autumn Greetings

I used older product to create an autumn leaves card.

I used a set from 2016, SU Blended Seasons. I stamped the leaves in Archival Sepia ink, then used watercolor pencils and a blender pen to add color. It was die cut with the dies that were released with the stamp set. I embossed, GKD Dark Chocolate cardstock with the SU Layered Leaves folder; it is very retired. The greeting came from Your Next Stamp Autumn Greetings, with a date of 2015. I am enjoying creating with product from my stash giving it new life.

We found this interesting fungus growing in our yard. I have never seen anything like this. I thought it looked like Mums, but we have none growing that I am aware of. Enjoy!

Typing Hello Friend

I have been looking at challenges available in blogland and found the color challenge at CAS Colours & Sketches. I like the colors they chose. I am also adding this to Less is More Challenge #491, Anything Goes.

I stamped the typewriter from Hero Arts My Type in Starry Sky. I stamped the words hello friend, from Hero Arts Butterfly & Flower Stamp and Cut set, in Coastal Cabana and GKD Lemon Drop. The circles came from another HA set called Just for You by Lia. The butterflies came from a set from Scrapbook dot com; it really does not have a name. I added the butterfly body and antennae with a Starry Sky marker. I added the Lemon Lolly layer for more color.

I haven’t used the typewriter set in a long time. It was fun to stamp it again. I was inspired by the designer, Jeanne, who used the SU set with the typewriter in the annual catalog. It looks like a fun set, but since I have this typewriter, I have not purchased it.

Grateful

I am using items I have had in my stash for quite a while that have never seen ink or been used.

The stencil used is called Modern Holly by Taylored Expressions. I purchased a grab bag full of stencils a year ago and this is one that I hadn’t used. I chose to use gray as the base color as it is a neutral. The greeting Grateful for all you do is from a set by Gina K Designs, Fluttering Fall. It was a birthday gift last year and these pieces have never seen ink or been cut before. The butterfly is new from Your Next Stamp, which is closing, and was a inexpensive addition to the order placed recently.

The colors used to ink are Lawn Fawn inks: Manatee, Fake Tan, and Juice Box. The cardstock is from Gina K Designs.

This will be entered in Color Hues #71: https://colorhuesthecolorchallenge.blogspot.com/2023/09/color-hues-71-tangerine-and-violet.html

It will also be entered in Crazy is our Fame – Stencils are our Game September Stencil challenge. These colors are Fall themed, so I am sticking to the theme of the challenge.

https://stencilfun.blogspot.com/2023/09/september-stencil-fun-challenge.html

I enjoyed using these colors to create a card. I also was thrilled to finally use items that I hadn’t gotten to use. I know of a challenge that the butterfly would fit, but I have another butterfly card in mind, so I will wait. Thanks for stopping by and sharing in my card.

Apricot and Aqua flowers

I saw the challenge at Just Us Girls on Saturday when they unveiled the color challenge. I do not own anything that reads Apricot ink, but found it does exist, so I used what I had.

I used the SU Fresh Flowers stamp and matching dies. I colored the leaves with Copic markers BG15 and BG13. For the flowers, I used SU Pale Papaya Stampin Blends, which are their alcohol markers. My first coloring smeared the black ink over the flowers, so I saved it by stamping again and popping up the flowers. I guess my ink was not dry before coloring, but the aqua did not smear, so I didn’t notice. I used vellum embossing with a Darice folder. The diamond edge was cut with a die from the Fresh Flowers die set. My cardbase is Sea Glass from Gina K Designs. I think I managed to find close enough apricot and aqua colors.

Thanks for stopping by. I enjoyed these colors and had fun creating.

Sunflower Slimline

I have been slowly coloring this image for a few weeks. I was slow due to birthdays happening in my family, so this had to take a back seat for a while. I finally finished a card with the image and will share it today.

For this card I use a Simon Says Stamp called Sunflower Garden. This is a huge stamp. I think it is a 6 X 8 inch stamp. I cut my image down and kept the best pieces, placing them on a slimline sized card. The cardstock layers and cardbase are using paper from My Favorite Things. I have no idea what the color names are; I purchased an assortment a few years ago. I used Spectrum Noir markers to color the image. I had around 5 markers out to color with, but didn’t write the names down.

August is winding down. Our weather has cooled down making it feel like fall. Thanks for stopping by and sharing in my card. I will be posting this to the challenge blog from Splitcoast Stampers. We have reach the maximum number of posts per our blog.

What’s Cooking

Today was the day to post my card for the Challenge Your Stash group at Split Coast Stampers. The theme is What’s Cooking? I have the perfect stamp set with the same name from Hero Arts, dated 2009. This card will also work for the Make My Monday Challenge of Hobbies.

I enjoy cooking and it can be a hobby. I read cookbooks and spend time thinking of how to create the dish and will it get eaten if I go to the work to create it. I used patterned paper from Gina K Designs with the pumpkins to paper piece the apron and add a mat to the greeting. The utensils were all fussy cut, colored with alcohol markers first. The background has images that were stamped with embossing ink. The cardstock used is Red Velvet from Gina K Designs.
