Fall 2019 – 2

I have this bad habit of using a stamp set and then setting it to the side instead of putting it away when I’m finished with it.  So every once in awhile when I cannot find anything on my work space, I clean up and file everything in it’s proper place.  And I’m starting a new collection of stamp sets that I’ve used and have not yet filed so I’m again using GKD’s Stamp n Foil Thankful Leaves stamp set as well as Thankful For You set for today’s card.

Mindy Eggen did a YouTube video “Adding Gold to Your Fall Card” and I thought I’d give it a try.  I sponged fall colors onto my cardstock using a My Hero Arts stencil and then added some Glitter Glitz Gel to the stencil.  It’s a little difficult to see the sponged colors on the cardstock and next time I may use brighter colors.  Some of the leaves were die cut and stamped and cut some from patterned papers and embossed the leaf veins in gold embossing powder added a EK border punch and my bouquet of leaves popping it up on coral reef cardstock.

It’s been a lazy day for me today — yesterday too!  I must get motivated but I’ll blame it on the dog days of summer!!  Thanks for looking and have a great day.

Hugs!

P.S.  3 Stamp Sets on a pile 🙂

My card today was meant for the single layer  ModSquad Challenge but I didn’t make the deadline on it…LOL….so I pondered on the original and decided it need something more.  I added a Martha Stewart punched border piece, then I added the twine ribbon, some gem stones and just now decided it needed more so I sprayed the card with Glitter Dust.  I do believe it’s finished.  Any more will be the sentiment inside and an envelope!

This card uses GKD’s Thankful Leaves Stamp n Foil  stamp set and dies, coral reef ink and some sandy beach cardstock for the border on white cardstock base.SAM_3997

My original idea was to die cut the leaves and then stamp on the inside using the layering leaves stamp from this stamp set.  I did get tiny bits of coral reef ink on the die cut front layer but hopefully they aren’t too noticeable.

Thanks for looking!

Back to School 2019

My area schools are starting back in session on August 26th so I have a few cards to share that I’ll be sending to some of my little “buddies”.

SAM_3992

First up are the ones for our grandchildren Chase and Brooke.  It is hard to believe that they will be in 2nd and 3rd grade.  Oh my how time flies!  These little ones are enjoying their vacation with mom and dad in Hawaii!

SAM_3994

The second batch is from 3 little grand”friends” who will be entering kindergarten and two in first grade.  They are a long time girlfriend’s grandchildren and they love receiving mail so I added them to my card list.

I don’t have too many Back to School stamps but found some on the Falling For You stamp set from GKD and a set from TPC Studios and just picked up the Love Nicole apple stamp and die set from AC Moore with a 60% coupon. The rest was patterned papers that I cut apart for images and used as the background.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Layers – Not

I decided to play along with the ModSquad Challenge “Layer Me Not” to create a one layer card.  Challenge can be seen here:  http://modsquadchallenge.com/

SAM_3990

I taped off the edges of the card base on all sides with washi tape and then using versamark stamped a StampinUp stamp From the Garden image and added the sentiment from GKD’s Dogwood & Butterfly illustrated by Theresa Momber then heat embossed in GKD’s fine detail gold embossing powder.

The idea of this card came from Yana Smakula’s Modern One-Layer Floral Card with Simon Says Stamp.

My original card in navy and gold is below but it seemed too dark to me so I went with the white and gold.

Happy August!

How the summer is flying by!  We are still experiencing hot and humid weather but not too much hazy in my neighborhood.  I’ve been working on a variety of cards the last week and here’s what I came up with.

First up is a card for our grandson using a stamp set from Impression Obsession “Max” stamp set.  The background is D’vine Swirl cuttlebug embossing folder and the insert sponging was a wave stencil by Pretty Pink Posh and patterned paper by Gina K Designs.

SAM_3980

Next is a card for our granddaughter using a Sizzix framelit with stamp set continuing with my ocean theme also uses the Pretty Pink Posh wave stencil  on pixie powder background and then white heat embossed.  These two will be enjoying paradise on Hawaii end of the week.

Then I couldn’t leave out our youngest granddaughter who I hope remembers the bubbles she played with at our home on her last visit.  I dug out my The Cat’s Pajamas stamp set Bubbles Happen for this cute layered image.

SAM_3987

We have a wedding the end of the month and I created this card which I love the way it turned out.  Very simple but to me elegant, too.  The main image sentiment was from GKD’s “Love Is” on white with a Technique Tuesday “Butterfly on the Border” die.  I inserted the butterfly cuts with gold glitter paper and put an pearlescent paper insert from Denami Designs with a GKD sentiment inside.

SAM_3982

One sympathy card for my sister’s mil that came together pretty quickly using a sponged oval and a Simon Says Stamp Daisy Stem die.  One birthday card using a Simon Says Stamp Carnation Frame die.  Both were cut and layered 4 times and the inside petals or layers were cut from pixie powder backgrounds.

And finally, not my favorite, but tried my best to save the jungle vines die cut from the My Hero Arts Monthly kit.  I like the tiger but not too keen on the background….maybe it will grow on me.

Another long post but thanks for stopping by and taking a peek!

Hugs to all!!

Flagged!

Today’s card will be entered into Gina K Designs July 2019 Monthly Mix Challenge “Flag!  You’re It!” hosted by Cat to incorporate the colors of a flag into your project.   I chose Red, White and Blue to represent the flag of the USA.  Using my favorite Bold & Blooming stamp set from GKD, I heat embossed in GKD fine detail white embossing powder on GKD Blue Denim cardstock, layered on some white glitter paper popped up the sentiment in cherry red ink and then punched out some butterflies from a Martha Stewart punch.

Family Fun

It was a busy weekend for us which is very unusual.  Saturday was the annual Chrvala picnic hosted by one of my husband’s cousins.  Always such a good time and the one time that the cousins get together and catch up with each other.  Our son, daughter inlaw and our 18 month granddaughter decided to come home the day before the picnic and stay with us and our daughter’s two children decided to sleep over the same night.  It was fun but a whirlwind of activity but worth it when our two oldest grandchildren decided it was the best picnic ever so I created this Thank you card for our hostess and host.

GKD stamp sets  Massive Messages, Blossom, and Hello Sunshine were used as well as embossing powder for my “fireworks”.  I then sponged the galaxy background with distress inks but it looked too dark so sprayed on irridescent Glitter Dust to try to brighten it up.  This is a 5×7 card so the children can write in their own thanks.

July Joan

Hi Buddies,

My card today  is one of my favorite folds, the gatefold card.  This year we, my high school girlfriends and I , all turn 65 so I’m trying to create some fun cards with the hopes that it brings a smile and chuckle for each and everyone.  I found my never been inked before Art Impressions (Hampton Art) and decided that it would be perfect for Joan’s birthday. There was no name on this set but it has fun girlfriend images and sentiments.
