Silver Cascade

Just Add Ink Colour Challenge #529

Why oh why are color challenges so difficult for me? I love color but maybe I feel that I need to go overboard on the colors. So for this color challenge:

I attempted to keep myself in check over these gorgeous colors. Using the Gina K/Simon Says Stamp Stamptember collaboration set Snowflake Cascade, I silver heat embossed it on my blue raspberry (Misty Moonlight) and stamped my sentiment on dusty rose (magenta madness) and then for good measure silver heat embossed some snowflakes from the same set and die cut them.

I’m still not quite sold on it but to my eyes it looks better when I put everything on the white card base.

Golden Fall Leaves

The Sisterhood Of Crafters

Love when challenges help me to create my seasonal cards. The challenge at The Sisterhood of Crafters is Golden Day of Fall challenging us to use gold on your project. It definitely has been a fall day at our home today with the wind blowing leaves all over and at times almost blowing me around too which is no small feat! So of course I am behind with my Thanksgiving/Fall cards and have wanted to play with the Impression Obsession Fall Leaf Background die that I purchased awhile ago and this was the perfect challenge for that to happen. I cut the background out of some cherished GKD gold cardstock and layered it on a background I created and put aside. The card looked too blah so after locating another Impression Obsession frame die added that to the front. The little bump on the upper left corner was me trying to slip some twine underneath the frame for my hanging leaf embellishment. No stamping required on this card today.

Thanks for stopping by on this windy fall day.

Making Valentine Cards for Troops

My project of valentine cards for the Making Cards for Troops group is completed. Normally I design, prep the cards and my girlfriends gather at my home to color, sponge and assemble but that didn’t happen. Coronavirus numbers are increasing in our county. We all have our bubble that we are comfortable in but some friends’ bubbles are a little bigger than others. Will is scheduled for knee replacement surgery the middle of this month and I didn’t feel comfortable having 6 friends although masked and six feet apart at tables in our home. Finished 92 cards and can I tell you that I really love every one of them. Five of each design with the exception of one group that has four and three individual designs. My Halloween cards suffered but am on track to start some Thanksgiving cards before beginning Christmas.

Zenflowers

AYSI Challenge #237

The rains have stopped at least temporarily, the sun is out on a lovely fall day and I needed to put myself into a zen piece of mind. So I finally pulled out my GKD StampTV kit and the Zenflowers set to play along with the As You See It Challenge: Challenge #237 — On the Bias

challenge 237 1

Using another background that I created awhile ago (they seem to grow on me after awhile) I stamped and die cut the smallest of the Zenflowers in this stamp set then die cut it. I also used the next largest zenflower die to cut a layering piece. The bias cut layer was embossed with a Darice embossing swirling leaf folder on ivory cardstock, layered on sweet mango cardstock. The sentiment is a SSS script hello die with shadow.

Another fun challenge at the As You See It group. Have a great day everyone. Stay Safe!

Star Option

AAA Cards CAS Game #177

The challenge at AAA Cards is one of Maxi White Space + Optional Twist Stars CAS Game #177. I believe when I created this card for the challenge I forgot about the Maxi White Space….failure to follow directions and recipe. Anyway I have Maxi white space on my white focal layer. My stars were created using Spellbinder’s and Momenta dies, patterned paper is from my stash and the sentiment is My Monthly Hero Arts August 2017 kit. OK, I confess I probably have an extra layer to be a true CAS card but the background layer is thin and covers the entire card front.

Maybe it’s the rain today that’s blurring my thought processes.

Thanks for looking.

October means….

Double D Challenge

The Double D Challenge is October what does it mean to you? October means celebrating our grandson Chase and his birthday. This year it’s his 10th..where does the time go even during this crazy year of Covid.

So for my October birthday card I pulled out a Sizzix birthday hat embossing folder, the sentiment is from the Pretty Pink Posh balloon shaker die but I cut out the sentiment from the balloon and inserted them into my cut out panel. The layering panel was one that I created awhile ago. Lego Harry Potter is an image from a free coloring page that was colored using my Stampin Up colored pencils and die cut the numbers from Momenta number dies. Thanks to Stamping Buddy Bonnie for a reminder to use our embossing folders and to Gerry for the awesome use of those free coloring pages.

Although Double D Challenges created a gorgeous mood board I decided to celebrate October in a different direction. I do love this time of year, the leaves changing colors but not the clean up, the brisk fresh air, pulling out scarves to wear and of course Halloween but celebrating our first grandchild’s birthday is the best thing about the month to me.

Halloween Boo!!

DRU Challenge #155 – Boo

Thanks to our Stamp Buddy Gerry for making an awesome card using the Tim Holtz Alterations Sizzix Thinlits die that I just had to have it. This is my monster boo group card that I created. The background was sponged using some Distress Oxide Inks and die cut the group and bats in various GKD cardstock.

This card will be entered into the Dies R Us Challenge: DRU Challenge #155 — Boo to create a Halloween card and a metal die’s company sold in the DRU Store. The Dies R Us store does carry Sizzix dies.

Thanks for looking. It’s been a Boo-tifully fall day in Pennsylvania today.

Cozy Marshmallows

AAA Cards CAS Game #176

The challenge at AAA Cards is a CAS One Corner with an optional twist of cozy. Well I guess there’s a warm cozy feeling around marshmallows. Marshmallows in hot chocolate! Marshmallows roasted over a fire! Marshmallows in smores! I will readily admit that I love marshmallows!!

My marshmallow stamp is one that I have had forever and a day and probably never saw ink until today. This is a DRS. Designs stamp. The sentiment I made up and printed then die cut with a Momenta die set. I colored my marshmallow with some distress inks and a water brush. The focal image is mounted on kraft cardstock.

The last few days the weather has been warm but I do believe marshmallow weather is not far off.

Zombies Beware

Two Old Bats Halloween Challenge Simon Says: Spooky

A Halloween card created using Tim Holtz Sizzix Framelits w/Stamps & Texture Fades set, sentiment was heat set with black embossing powder is from Hampton Art’s Zombies & Stencil set. The background was sponged with a variety of Distress Oxide inks including the new Crackling Campfire. To highlight the drippy bloooood I used wink of stella glitter gold and then smoothed it out with my fingers. Zombie hand was colored with some Arteza real brush markers.

This card will be entered into Two Old Bats Halloween Challenge “Halloween Jump Start” anything goes challenge and into the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Spooky! A first time for a Simon Says challenge.

Enjoy your day! It’s beautiful in Pennsylvania today and we are off to Chase’s socially distancing soccer game.
