Bronze Birthday Bow

Double D Challenges is celebrating their 8th birthday/anniversary with a mood board representing the traditional gift of bronze. DCWV’s The Natural stack provided my background patterned paper, the Taylored Expressions frame and bow were made by copper embossing a piece of cardstock. Since my card will be given to our granddaughter who is turning 6 in a week, I needed a cute factor so found the SimonSaysStamp Party Like a Puffin stamp and die set.

My card will be shared with:

Words and more

It’s a New Year and a new challenge from Diane and Darlene and it’s all about Words.

I went through a bunch of stamp sets searching for words of different fonts and size and was determined to use the large Cheers stamp set from Taylored Expressions and it seemed to fit this new Word Power challenge. Sentiments are from Gina K Designs Party Time stamp set and the Taylored Expressions Big Cheers. Lined up all of the sentiments in one Misti and stamped multiple panels and then that meant stamping the big Cheers in my mini-misti and fussy cutting it out times eight. I decided at the last minute and that means after the card was assembled to add some fireworks with Newton’s Nook’s fireworks stencil and TE’s Iridescent Glitter Happy Medium paste.

Thanks Darlene and Diane for another fun challenge to play along with.

P.S. We will probably be shoveling snow this weekend. I would much rather be in my “elf room” but maybe the white stuff will miss us. I don’t mind more rain.

Last but not Least

One last Christmas card for my hubby. I didn’t think we were exchanging cards this year because he’s still recovering from that knuckle replacement surgery and is pretty much in a one handed, non dominate handed state. He didn’t think he would make it to the store to but a card for me so I told him I wouldn’t make one for him. We exchange cards on every occasion. So he walked to the nearby CVS and found a card for me. Then I had to laugh over his outrage at the price of a Hallmark card!!! I told him when he has both hands back he needs to go to the “elf room” and make his own cards in the future.

Using some plaid papers from my supplies and Tim Holtz dies this “winter snow scene”  The black oval piece has some stars printed on it (hard to see) so Santa flying through the night sky over some winter trees makes this a winter/snow scene for me.

December Sugar Skulls

I cannot end the year without playing along with the Two Old Bats monthly challenge. The mood board’s focus is on skulls so I searched the internet for sugar skulls background pattern, then added a clear acetate panel from my local Michaels which also included a skull as well as a SimonSaysStamp pre-printed sentiment strip and a few die cuts to complete my card today. I thought it turned out pretty cool, if I must say so myself. HAHAHA!!!

Tweet Wishes

Taking inspiration from our Buddy Bonnie and her use of vines/greenery, I stamped my “pine tree” branches on the top portion of my focal panel by layering and overlapping and stamping off at times the same image, then added my “B” bird and sentiment all from Inkadinkadoo “Cool Christmas” stamp set. Making my own Triple B’s of black, branches and bird for my card today and I think it’s one of my favorites of the season.

I did use the December mood board for inspiration with the black and white theme for my card.

Holly & Bright

A little holly & berries and patterned paper, embossing folder and die cuts for my card today.

An oldie but goodie Sizzix embossing folder on white shimmer cardstock, Taylored Expressions easy strips pattern die, Tim Holtz Sizzix large Funky Festive dies, and a patterned paper pack sentiment were used on my card today. Although the sentiment had holly & berries, I cut and colored the Tim Holtz Funky Festive die and popped on top. To add a little more color decided to on the easy strips from TE.

Snowy Kisses

Penny Black’s Mimi is one of my favorite images, easy to color and always sweet! I think I use this one every year so I may have to shop for another Christmas Mimi! Also included on my card is Taylored Expressions Birch Tree Border die, Twinkle Twinkle background stamp stamped in versamark ink, sentiment, Poppy Stamps Stitched Hills dies and some Dr PH Martin’s white for splatter/spatter. After lightly inking the background in blues that remained on my blending brushes, I added the birch tree die cuts and some snow hills. I covered up the hills overlap with my sentiment.

They really had a fun and funky mood board for this Christmas animal challenge, didn’t they?

Poster Board Christmas

Closed and opened card. Not sure why this Gina K Designs stamp set ( an oldie) was named Poster Board Christmas but I decided to keep the name. I originally stamped the two part wreath and used a square die and scalloped square for the image but it was quite large so found a circle die that fit pretty perfectly and decided to go with it. My patterned paper was from a Simon Says Stamp kit and although I have tons of patterned paper, I copied the original and used the copy. Since the sentiment is on the outside and the patterned paper is light enough to write the inside message, it was just calling out for something else so I added Santa and his reindeer and feel there is still room for an inside message.

Silver and Gold Snowflakes

It would be nice to have some silver and gold snowflakes as long as they don’t have to be shoveled, wouldn’t it!

For my card today, I am playing along in a color challenge of silver and gold. After foiling some Gina K Designs foil on toner paper, I die cut some snow flakes and a sentiment from Honey Bee as well as using a Cuttlebug snowflake embossing folder on black shimmer cardstock. If that wasn’t enough shine an additional spray of perfect pearls completed today’s card.

I’ll be sharing my card with:

Fun challenge and maybe I should have been more inspired by their mood board????
