OC Birthday

A few month’s ago I invited a cousin for an inpromptu card making session. As a thank you she gave me some photos that she had taken at her summer house in Ocean City Maryland and I thought I would turn this one into a card. It’s a little dark but hope you can see the beauty of the photo. My sentiment is my stamped portion and is a Gina K Designs stamp set “So many sentiments”. The domed shape is a Taylored Expressions die. This card went to my son-in-law.

My card will be shared with:

Cardz 4 Galz #219 Seascape Challenge hosted by our Buddy Johanna.

Shamrocks & Shenanigans

Another reason to make cards for a fun holiday is coming up quickly especially with Easter at the end of March. So to get started I stamped my background with SimonSaysStamp Shamrock background stamp in black ink on a light minty green cardstock then ink blended more color over the panel. I stamped an older red rubber sentiment stamp from DRS Designs in versamark and heat set with gold embossing powder. The layering panel was gold embossed after inking the edges with versamark so the panel gold color would match the sentiment gold color.

This was my first attempt but my cardstock shifted on the second stamping so I stamped, heat embossed on vellum and die cut with a circle die to cover up my oops!

My card today will be shared with:

Words Power: Word Power #2 Challenge This challenge is to make the sentiment the focal point of your card.

Plaid Love

Heart dies, love word die and plaid stencil, navy and black ink on mint colored cardstock = Valentine’s card? Maybe or maybe not! Spellbinders Celebrations Hearts die offset with black and mint as is the Love word die in reverse and Taylored Expressions Plaid Layering Stencil were all used for my card project.

The Sisterhood of Crafters: February 14, 2024 — LOVE challenge

Better with You

One last Valentine for this year and if you are thinking it’s for the hubby, you are correct. Our favorite place in our home is in our basement where Will and I hang out most of the time. This cozy couple from an old The Cat’s Pajamas stamp set seemed to work perfectly for the occasion. Sentiment is from Gina K Designs Lovely Notes stamp set and the heart in the speech bubble is a dollar store find. The large heart stencil is one that I made from my Spellbinders heart dies. I used the inner heart to feather out some inks to create a “halo” around the outer heart, then replaced that heart with the cut out section and layered and inked on top of that stencil with a Pretty Pink Posh layering hearts stencils. The main image was stamped in VersaFine Black Onyx ink and clear heat embossed then used some markers to add some color where needed.

My card today will be shared with the Stencil Fun Challenge

Crazy is our fame – STENCILS are our game! challenge. This month’s optional theme is Love/Hearts.

Tomorrow is Fasnatcht Day when we Pennsylvania Dutch have fasnatcht doughnuts as well as Fat Tuesday and Mardi Gras, however, I think we will be spending our day clearing more snow.  I did buy two doughnuts from the local bakery and am hoping they are as good as the ones my grandmother used to make!!! Thanks for stopping in for a peek. I appreciate you and your time. Take care and be safe.

Love!

Nothing says love more than a valentine card for our oldest grandson. He does light up my life! The shining lightbulb is a GinaK Designs stamp set which is temporarily misplaced :) Taylored Expressions Ray’s Pierce & Cut Plate with a little bit of yellow ink for the glow. I already received a thank you for a really cool card from him.

Embossed x 4

I was inspired by a recent Kristina Werner YouTube video for my card today. Swiping some red and pink inks direct to paper, I die cut a Hero Arts Thinking of You Stamp & Cut word die from the inked cardstock. The sentiment was also layered on 3 additional white die cuts. The top red layer was pressed into versamark and heat set with clear embossing powder 4 times. The focal image was embossed using SimonSaysStamp Circle Rings embossing folder. I’ve been looking at this impression and definitely do not see rings that look like the packaging. Hmmmm….maybe the wrong folder in the package. Anyway after layering on a piece of gray cardstock put everything on a white card base. There is a nice amount of shine by versamark inking, embossing and heating that many times.

Can You Handle The Pressure? Februrary 10th Anything Goes with An Embossing Folder and a twist of Red/Pink.

Thanks for stopping in for a peek. I appreciate you and your time. Take care and be safe. After a few nice above average days, it could be another snow day on Tuesday! Oh well….it is still winter!

Two for One

Two sheets of different patterned papers equals two card backgrounds. I stumbled across StampinUp Lisa Freeman’s YouTube channel as she presented what she entitled Fun Twist to Stack, Cut and Shuffle Technique (not sure if that link worked) and ended up with two granddaughter valentine cards for our 6 year old and our 11 year old. Pretty Pink Posh stamps set was used for the bird and the mailbox. Sentiment strips are Taylored Expressions, circle sentiment was from an ephemera pack found in my stash as was the patterned papers, postage stamp dies are also TE. The bottom is a shaker card and I’m not really sure why I opted for vellum instead of clear but I did so it’s done! LOL.

My cards today will be shared with:

Double D Challenges: Heartfelt – must include a heart. My hearts are tiny but they are there if you look closely.

Cardz 4 Galz #218 Sequins – which are in my shaker element as well as a few other bits other than sequins.

Thanks for stopping in for a peek. I appreciate you and your time. It’s a beautiful day in our neighborhood. The sun has been shining most of this week. Temps have gone up to above normal. The snow has melted except for the big ugly piles in shopping centers. Maybe the groundhog got it right this year! Take care, be safe.

Dancin’ Bones

An arched shaped card today for the Two Old Bats Halloween Challenge – Februrary 2024. I always like to play along with the mood board provided on challenges and the theme for this month is skeletons and love. I still wanted to be able to mail this card for Halloween without being totally a Valentine theme so this is what I came up with today. Dancing skeletons that are possibly from a Recollections red rubber stamp set from Michael’s. Also used in my card project is: Inkadinkadoo bird branch, SimonSaysStamp Boo Day sentiment, Taylored Expressions, Spooky Night layering stencil and Arched Stacklets dies. Tiny hearts for the dancing skeletons, too.

Pink’d

Gina K Designs Light, Medium and Dark Carnation pink inks were blended over a SimonSaysStamps A2 rectangle mask stencil to create my background for my Wild Garden Border silhouette image from Rubbernecker stamps. A small dragonfly from one of my favorite GKD sets Dreams Take Flight and sentiment also from GKD’s So Many Sentiments completed my pink themed card today. The Rubbernecker stamp Wild Garden Border is so old!!!! How old is it???? Well this is a red rubber stamp that I never removed the backing paper and it was stuck on so tightly, I was peeling little bits and pieces off at a time so I could at least use some tape runner to stick it to my misti door. This was only a section of this large 5-1/2″ stamp that hopefully I will use again and again.

My card today will be shared with the following challenges:
